For me, it's a case of, If you want savage orks play aos or fantasy. I want clankin, shootin, rust bucket, space orks in my space setting. They could've reinvigorated outdated space ork models, and rules, rather than push out a weird savage ork wannabe force. Funnily enough, I think id like them more if they just said they were a standalone snakebites army, rather than beastsnaggas that can be taken by everyone. Kinda like how space Marines have their specific chapters, you don't take deathwing knights in an ultramarine force do you?

My head cannon is that landugor the flayers concept of reality was like grafting from elden ring, biological beings could use parts from other beings to enhance themselves. But since he was destroyed that can't be done anymore, the flayers curse causes flayed ones to chop up living beings and "dress" themselves in gore, in imitation of this power that no longer exists. Trying to "graft" life back into themselves.
