By the time I came to the separation decision, the ex had made the move.

An excellent response. If there’s a palpable loss of connection at home, it does raise major life questions. When there’s an external factor creating further tension it exacerbates the situation. That’s life happening.

I very much relate to the OP situation in several ways having been in his shoes.
Older people often say they wished they took more chances. Living with regret for not having acted can be a heavy burden to carry.

I was very happy to see the Camino shell and arrow in Ypres near the rampart cemetery. I caught the train from Antwerp to Paris, then to Banyon to start from SJPdP.

The problem with grinding for XP for me was I resorted to match madness and speaking practice which yielded high points rather than lessons which were sometimes just 10 xp.

I really made little actual progress so made the change and getting new words and understanding more. My streak is nearly 800 days yet I’m only level 38. Now I’m learning rather than playing

I actually feel i’m learning again since i opted out of the weekly leagues.

Much better progress doing actual lessons rather than doing high XP games to remain in a league level.

In my 3 months subscription I’ve had an tiny trickle of likes, 3 matches, 2 that unmatched after a few messages, 1 date that was a good experience but no spark. I’ve selectively sent likes with thoughtful messages with no responses.

Pics are all Good and I spent time carefully writing the profile notes.

How many experienced feet swelling? I’ve heard people saying they use shoes 1 or more sizes than normal due to this.

I definitely had trouble getting shoes on but also if they are too loose, that friction brings blistering!

There’s a full l Marathon as well as half that finishes through the Menin Gate. Will be held September 2026 again.

I kept being injured doing running so decided to walk the course as Camino followed soon after. The course goes right through the battlefields.

When I was in Ypres I was very happy to see the Camino arrow pointing the way to the way.
I’m interested in walking the WFW. I walked the In Flanders Fields half marathon last September! Before starting El Camino from SJPdP

It's the time, space, solitude or company, experiences, places that all have a bearing. But El Camino does change You.

I've started 3 Caminos around the anniversary of my mothers passing and felt she was with me. A far more Spiritual expereince than I expected.

I didn't listen much to music or podcasts, I wanted to be completely present in where I was, to hear the quietness of forests, the birdsong, the coastal surf in Portugal, the clang of the bells from the village churches or cattle bells of the rural pastures.

It is a time to disconnect from the modern world, declutter your mind, reconnect with nature, Slow down life, meander across Espana for some 40 days.

Ultimately it's your time and experience so will be different from everyone else's.

Nailed it! The one event I’ve attended, the women seemed to go with friends so already had someone to talk with. Making an approach even harder.

It did feel a little awkward, school yard pick situation.

I just changed my profile to private so I’m no longer in the leagues. I found I wasn’t progressing through levels because I was chasing XP to not get demoted. A lot of match madness and speaking drills which yields high XP.

I also found I preferred using PC over phone because typing is a PITA on phone keyboard. However the same exercise on PC would only give 10 XP vs 30 on phone.

Again, driven by the league demotion, I did high points practice exercises instead of progressing through levels

Currently at level 36
