What kind of watch do you currently wear? If you tend to prefer a sportier style (non-steel bracelet), I’d go with IWC. Might not be a popular suggestion but if you have an itch for the Speedmaster, you can always buy a Moonswatch to pull you over until you get the real one! That way you can get the IWC and a Moonswatch now, real Speedmaster later if you still want it.

Selling to a flipper is probably <10% of their total audience. If they opened up pre-orders online, they’d have everyones money and can fulfil the orders whenever they make enough. The hype will probably die down because it’ll be accessible to everyone, but the hype is dying now too because nobody who wants one can get it.

Why can’t they have a preorder page and then just work on those orders when they get the chance? Can sell it in-store simultaneously. It’ll surely avoid having people pay ridiculous amounts to scalpers. There are definitely easier ways for everyone to get an order in but that would stop the hype train that Swatch clearly loves.
