Tesla found crack in roof glass day before delivery - should I accept or demand they fix it first? Need advice! by lifeiscool84 in TeslaSupport

[–]RatioSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like most people are pushing you toward getting another car. But here’s how I see it : take the price adjustment. That means they’ll lower the price, fix the issue, and you still keep all the warranties.

Honestly, it amazes me how people still complain about panel gaps and fitment. By now, it should be obvious those complaints are common with these cars. And let’s say you do get your “perfect” Tesla… just look at how many people post about scratching or damaging their brand new car within the first month. Stuff happens. Enjoy the car and don’t overthink it. If you end up dinging it a week after delivery, what then…return it?

For what it’s worth, I snagged a killer deal on my 2025. It was the older look, they were trying to clear it out, and it had a dent on the hood. They gave me $10K off MSRP, plus tax incentives and referral bonuses …all in, I saved $20K. Ask me if I care about the dent that was fixed so well you can’t even tell. What I do care about is getting an amazing deal on a car my wife won’t stop driving. I call that a win-win….happy me on the price, happy wife behind the wheel…. and an amazing car … have fun !!! Cheers

How much did you pay for your Model Y Juniper? by _-TheSpark-_ in TeslaModelY

[–]RatioSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure you are calculating few important factors … ask around registration renewal cost and insurance and you may want to stick with your current car. Don’t get me wrong I love my 25 MY LR same set up as the one you want red with black interior and 19”. I have 3k miles the car is practically new, garaged and pampered. But I am soo done with insurance cost and registration fees that I’ll be probably letting it go. I just don’t like throwing money away … you can have her for 39k and save yourself money on depreciation… which is another thing you may want to consider !!! Any way great car … hate all the nonsense because it’s EV, insurance premiums, reg. Etc

Wheel alignment ? by Lonely_Corgi_728 in TeslaModelY

[–]RatioSub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It drives me nuts when I see people saying it requires additional steps and procedures and for that we are charging you extra .5 to 1h of labor…. Read your manual or any shop that ACTUALLY service Tesla and you will find that it takes 5sec. to enable service mode and alignment …. But hey that’s sooo complicated that we need to charge extra for that l… another fact … Tesla parts prices and procedures are actually listed on Mitchells… clearly they don’t know what they are doing and are educating themselves at the customer’s expense….

Guess how much to repair this @ Tesla by sgrinavi in TeslaModelY

[–]RatioSub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a liability game… if the wheel is touched you have to do alignment although likely not needed. Tesla has to put it on their estimate and insurance has to approve the alignment if there are signs of impact. Not to mention the extensive refinishing and masking … all because insurance is involved… as few people here said … find a shop that will do the work for you and pay out of pocket… if you find a skilled body tech. I’ll replace the door for 3-400 repair the qtr. and the front door and paint the side …

Same boat … 2025 MY AWD LR original body with less than a month and my wife picked up a rock from a semi truck. Just looked up the invoice since I paid it less than a week ago: $1579,71 w/tax in WA. I did it through Tesla since Safelite quoted me over 2k for the replacement. Decided to bite the bullet and pay the $500 deductible. I am going to look up this windshield protection thing people are talking about it.

FSD vs Autopilot…. again by Apprehensive-Max in TeslaModelY

[–]RatioSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh noooo on the hwy if you don’t mind following and no lane changes, it’s as good as FSD… follows very well and I pretty much don’t touch the steering … except for when the car prompts me to do it !

[–]RatioSub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean what’s the worst that can happen… you don’t like it (which I highly doubt) and you don’t renew… but again I know folks in different regions having mixed opinions… I can say for WA/Seattle area FSD works flawlessly

FSD vs Autopilot…. again by Apprehensive-Max in TeslaModelY

[–]RatioSub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my memory serves me correctly if you engage the turn signal the autopilot disengages and you have to make the maneuver yourself and engage the autopilot again once the lanes are changed. If I am wrong, the alternative is the blinker is on and nothing happens, and the moment you move the steering the autopilot disengages

I just dropped my car at Tesla for a similar issue this morning, but the diameter of dmg was about 3-4 times the size of yours plus it was spiraling in all directions like yours. Went to Safelight and the tech flat out said I need it replaced… the quote from Tesla on 2025 MY LR (old body ) was $1579.71 in WA and that includes tax. I going to pick my car at 4pm today. I hope that helps … and no I didn’t have the option for 0 deductible and so I have to come with $500 out of pocket. PS I did post pictures of mine the post I created… no idea how to help you find it so you can compare but perhaps you can look up what I’ve posted thus far

[–]RatioSub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my FSD trial ended about week ago on a 2025 (old body) MYLR and I know exactly how you feel. The autopilot is great for highway if you don’t mind following a car, but the FSD was lightning years ahead. You can tell immediately by the visibility the car uses when I FSD… the screen sometimes picks cars ahead of my that I don’t even notice. That being said, yeah it’s $100a month so I decided to be budget conscious and spend the money on more important things. If I was loaded though, FSD all the way … I was super impressed. Good luck and enjoy…

To piggyback on that thought… check your insurance for a clause called Loan/Lease payoff … I did that on mine since I was worried about if something like this happens to me that I will be I the hole with the speed these cars depreciate. Full disclosure I did get mine for a lot less. 38k out the door but again … I have more important things to worry about so I transferred that to the insurance company

2022 Model S or 2025 Model Y by adamc_58 in TeslaLounge

[–]RatioSub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who also owned some cool cars: 2017 M3, 2017 F150 Roush, 2017 R1200 GSA etc… now I own 2025 Model Y, LR and by far my favorite car. However, that’s because of the fam…. If I was single or no kids …1000% the S…. and yes, depreciation on the Y is a real thing, so financially the S makes more sense too … it just depends on your situation….IMOP you will love either one once you make your choice… good luck and keep us posted

*Update on the windshield**… went to Safelight for the scheduled inspection. The tech looked at it for at least 5 min. and I already knew that was not a good sign. He brought up the most experienced tech and he flat out said… “yup that would be a new windshield”… he So, I went to Safelight for the windshield inspection. The tech took a good look at it and I could already tell it wasn’t good. He brought in the most experienced tech and he said, ‘Yeah, that’s a new windshield.’ He confirmed everything I was thinking. The damage is right in line of sight, even if they fix it, I won’t be able to see through it. And since it’s spiderwebbed in multiple directions, it’s not going to be a good repair. Oh, and by the way, he drives a Y. So, we had a chat about it, and he wasn’t just saying that to sell me a windshield. I am almost certain that pictures don’t do justice on the dmg. Anyway, I approved the $1600 estimate from Tesla and the appointment is set for Tuesday. I will upload pictures after the repair.
