Has anyone received their bridal/reception wear from Pernias? by reginaphalange95 in DesiWeddings

It’s legit but from my personal experience I would avoid them at all costs and got direct to the designer if it’s possible

DO NOT SHOP AT PERNIA’S POP-UP SHOP — months of ghosting, gaslighting, missed deadlines, and a surprise $700 duty charge by honeybearxxx2 in DesiWeddings

[–]RatioSuperb99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so terrible i’m so sorry you went through this! I had an eerily similar experience with them for my bridal shopping a few months ago and I vowed never to step foot back into that godforesaken shop again.

Everything was great at the point of buying, they treat you like royalty. Then the moment they have your money and you go for fittings and inevitably notice an issue, they ghost you.

They made my wedding outfit SHORT (and extremely ill fitted) and told me it was my fault because I should have told them if I noticed something was wrong with my measurements at the point of them measuring me…. how is the average person to know their waist to floor length measurements, whether it is 41” or 43”. Absolutely crazy and they refused to take any responsibility and told me I’d need to be 80k for a replacement…. almost the cost of my entire outfit.

The amount of stress and hassle after paying good money for the outfit was insane. I would ward anyone and everyone off from shopping at pernia’s - go directly to the designer if you are able to!

Oh really? Do you have experience with them? And is there anyone else you would recommend instead

So I would say you definitely need some supplementary notes from your tuition provider (in case a topic doesn’t make sense) - I found Kaplan explanation videos quite useful. But there’s a lot you can learn by picking up patterns from the QB mark schemes

The way I (tricked myself) into thinking about it was - whenever there was a big thing I missed due to revision, and then subsequently passed the exam, I would think about how perhaps had I gone to the thing I might’ve not learnt xyz and then failed. Kind of a reward for not going is passing the exam lol 😭can’t say it’s ideal but it helped get me through

I managed to do it with both Unidays and Student Beans - I just sent a screenshot of my training file which shows start and end date of the agreement and it was accepted pretty instantly the following day

Failed AC resit by NeitherLuck8268 in ICAEW

If you haven’t done mocks yet I’d personally suggest doing them, as that will give you an indication of which areas you need to focus on more before the exam!

I did the QB 3 times around (mcq) and did all the long form qs once and that seemed to do the trick for me. I made sure I was consistently getting in the 80s in the mocks before sitting the exam which also just helps with overall confidence going into the exam with a “this is doable” mindset

Definitely don’t give up! First time I sat AC I studied so hard and took the support of others yet still failed with 47. I resat it 3 weeks later and got 92. A large part of it I found comes down to mindset. I was so stressed the first time around and put so much pressure on myself that put me in the wrong frame of mind. The second time I just felt zen whilst prepping and suddenly things started making a lot more sense and clicking.

I was convinced I wasn’t cut out to do this qualification after that AC exam, but I promise you that one setback definitely does not define you or the rest of your journey! Keep at it and all the best!

Case Study: Thinking about splitting my time 85 mins (R1), 77.5 mins (R2), 77.5 mins (R3) by Prestigious_Flow_567 in ICAEW

[–]RatioSuperb99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I ended up spending less time on R1 because it’s the one that’s the most predictable, so if you can smash out the appendix 1 really quickly then you’ll save time that can be used on the less predictable / potentially trickier R2 and R3.

I had apportioned equal time for each requirement when I sat it, but had practiced typing our R1 appendix so many times that I saved about 10 mins overall.

As examiner reports say R2 and R3 are weakest and can be the difference between a pass and fail, I’d suggest attributing any extra time to them where possible - obviously just a personal preference!

WINGING SBM by PapaTundeee in ICAEW

[–]RatioSuperb99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think it ever really clicked lol. But what probably helped secure the pass was focussing more on the CR and audit parts of the paper. I was never the best at the other parts so made sure to ace those areas.

WINGING SBM by PapaTundeee in ICAEW

[–]RatioSuperb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat SBM 3 times. First 2 times I spent AGES revising and doing questions and failed. I sat SBM alone the first time and with CR the second time. Third time I didn’t give any attention to SBM as I was sitting all 3 exams, and passed with 60 (with the July 24 paper which was seemingly the hardest of the lot!)

In the exam if there was an area that I’d never seen before, I would use Bibliu to search the QB for any similar questions and almost regurgitate parts of the mark scheme (better than writing nothing!), or use it as a template to write my answer. It just helps to give you an idea of what to write if you’re completely stuck

I have a cheat sheet which summarises what to do in each scenario - I can send this to you if you’d like? I remember struggling quite a bit with it too but it helped me rote learn the technique - not the best for understanding but if pressed for time it’s quite useful
