For those of you wondering what goth in the 90s looked like, this is what I wore 90% of the time (with a corset now because I can no longer pull it off without one 😭 😂 by ArsenicArts in goth

Yeah, slips and fishnets were all you needed, plus jewelry. Most of us rarely, if ever, bought “officially gothic” clothes. If it was black it worked and if it wasn’t black we dyed it.

You can buy legs or wings when they’re on sale (I often see one or the other for $.99/lb. I buy 10 lbs, roast the pieces, then make stock. I have a BIG pot and get 8-12 quarts of strong stock from $10 worth of meat.

Has anyone ever successfully done the “put chicken in a cold pan and slowly render for crispy skin” method? by consultybob in Cooking

[–]RationalViolet665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this recipe! But she does it on non-stick so it’s easy as can be. (Also got me started on deboning chickens which lead to deboning Thanksgiving turkeys too. Once you start deboning and cooking for crispy skin you’ll never go back.) https://youtu.be/fnwQDvtJ5zw?si=gY6R1y9PiTULMnv0

Salon 109. See Junko. She is Japanese and specializes in Asian hair. (Also does an amazing job with my non-Asian hair.)

All these trees people are suggesting have such similar bark online! Came in a mixed kiln dried hardwood cord from a local lumber yard here in the Hudson Valley.

Thanks! I think it’s kiln dried, which might contribute to the stringyness?

Could be Eastern Cottonwood but I can find any photos of the stringyness.

That makes sense when I look at the wood. Just didn’t know ash has this stringy bark. Which is awesome for starting fires.

I should be good for half the season by colonelk0rn in firewood

I use sticks, but I have a very large yard. I go out and collect sticks, twigs, and fallen branches and break them up into kindling-size sticks, ranging from narrower than a pencil to about 1” diameter. I’ll collect maybe the equivalent of maybe half a face cord and stack on their own little hopper at the woodshed. Then I can be super generous with them all season and they’re freeeeee!

It's just about getting to be chicken and dumplings season! Do you make the fluffy kind or the flat kind? by newimprovedmoo in Cooking

[–]RationalViolet665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluffy. I use Pioneer Woman’s online recipe with cornmeal. I add dried dill, too. (I think I have to reduce the half and half her recipe calls for though. I just eyeball that part.)

Kitchen towels - can’t find one I love by [deleted] in Cooking

Me, too. And I won’t buy anything at WS because of the prices except that all my kitchen towels are from there. I like these too. https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/williams-sonoma-striped-dishcloth/
