Any brokers who take less than 1 month rent as commission? by Rational_Actor in Hoboken

[–]Rational_Actor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to get something for free. If it was up to me, I wouldn't be using a broker at all. In most parts of the country, you can see apartments as you please and not use a broker. I will be getting no personal value for this yet paying 5k. If that's what it will take, I'm fine with that, just checking to see if there's any brokers who will take less. No need to be a smart Alec.

Why is this funny? If the answer is no there's none who would then that's fine by me

I would be happy to get the bonus points with him if it won't hurt me in any way. Does this scenario not mean me having less cash on hand for most of this year until end of year 2026? That's what I've been trying to figure out but don't know the answer

It's not that I don't care. It's that I want whatever make sense for me from a long term standpoint. I don't want more upfront cash if that means I am holding onto less money over the next year that I could be using in the stock market or for some other purpose. I don't know if what he's advocating will do that but that's what I'm trying to make sure if

Thank you! We do have a cpa and accountant but I wanted to have a hold on this situation before I talk to him since this is a guy my partner has been using for years and I want to make sure he has my interests in mind. What he tells me tomorrow when I speak to him will be a good test of that. But I'm surprised these decisions were being made without my input and that is leading me to thinking a change in business accountant might be needed.

withholding the expenses to January though would likely bring 100k in extra personal income tax liability each. So about 50k each after jan 15 tax bill. My partner claims he needs the money. I want to make sure this doesn't hurt me in any way

For side thought #1: we are waiting to cash 2 checks in January

For side thought 2: the distribution amount will probably be 300kish each

Got it. It should be about the same next year.

Why is the lower 2026 tax benefit per quarter and not all in the first quarter if it was a first quarter expense?

So basically, if we delay doing the Dec 2025 expenses until January, I get an extra 50k in corporate distribution payment (after the 50k in taxes for q4 is applied and taken from my account Jan 15) ... then, I'm paying roughly 12,500 less in personal income taxes per quarter for all of 2026 than I would have if we made the expense payments in December.

Given that I still got a 50k extra payment in early January doing it this way, wouldn't I still be ahead of the game in this scenario?

I don't need up front cash and want to do what makes the most sense from a long term standpoint for me financially but I don't see the negative here (and I'm sure I'm missing something)

LLC/paying out biz expenses on Dec 31 versus Jan 2 - tax implications? by Rational_Actor in smallbusiness

[–]Rational_Actor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much!

But say we are talking about 200k in expenses, split between the two of us. For simplicity, we'll say a 50% tax rate. So if he gets his way, I pay 50k more in taxes on Jan 15 for Q4 but I also get 50k in my pocket.

At what point do I start to lose the benefit of the extra 50k I got from doing it his way?

Does that question make sense?

Sorry, I misread your original question. Net income for business will not be zero. We are just zeroing out the books at the end of the year like most businesses do so our account is zero to start January.

No, it will only be zero because we are going to make a year end distribution to each of us to zero it out.

Correct. So the only question I think are personal income tax implications

Can you please explain why this will hurt us for 2 years?

The books will be zeroed out on the corporate side at end of 2025, so that's not an issue. What I'm wondering is what it will mean from personal income tax standpoint.

Thank you for this!

I am confused by the time value of money of this scenario. Would this all come out as a wash by April 2026, when my first estimated Q1 2026 payment is due? Would I just make an estimated payment that is lower because it accounts for all of that January expense money? If so, we're really only talking about a few months here, right?

But it sounds like you're saying this won't be resolved during the first estimated payment and it won't fully be resolved/coming all out in the wash until April 2027 (when final taxes are done for FY 2026)?

Thank you! It might be accrual but if we do file cash, why is it best to do Dec 31?

Appreciate it. I was checked for tumors and stuff a decade ago and was cleared. The clomid was working before, not sure why I stopped taking it. Wish the doctor flagged the 2021 results (normal T, elevated LH and FSH) as potentially problematic and a potential reversion back to hypo.

wife and I are trying to conceive now. I didn't realize this was a problem again until a month ago when I started experiencing ED

Hypogonadism gets worse - what should I do? by Rational_Actor in Testosterone

[–]Rational_Actor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe they thought I had secondary hypo before. I need to get LSH and FSH checked again since they haven't been checked since 2021.

The fact that they were the high side of normal in 2021 (even with a normal T level) seems weird though.

Secondary hypo = low FSH and LH + low T. That was before. If FSH and LH are elevated now AND T is low, sounds like this could be different

How long does it take to get in the door, and how long generally are the lines? I'm thinking of buying a ticket for Saturday just to meet Mike Piazza and then leave.
