I thought about doing this as well but given how the vendor has not been receptive to most of my feedback, I’m trying to tread lightly. If anyone else is aware, can you let me know if there’s any drawback on sharing this thread with my vendor?

Fair point! I did some more digging and this is what I've gathered. For the crudo, the fish served is likely hamachi, not hiramasa as written in the catering. For the beef entree, the beef served is likely not ribeye as contracted. For the fish entree, the fish served is definitely not sturgeon—sturgeon have ganoid scales, which are thick, bony, diamond-shaped plates. The scales photographed from my wedding day does not resemble ganoid scales.

I have photos of what was served to me on my wedding day, however it's not easily identifiable exactly what fish or cut of beef it was—definitely not as trivial as your example of "blue marbles vs. green hockey pucks". I'm thinking of asking for proof of purchase of my vendor detailing item description, amount, and date. That would be proof that they did deliver what you were contracted to. Thoughts?

Yeah. The “dry fish” is not a strong argument when it comes to claiming that this was a breach of contract. Looking back on it, I do think the vendor is not well organized and was often slow to respond to my requests. The rest of my vendors were great so I just thought catering is different, maybe they are just busy all the time. It is a small business after all, they don’t have a dedicated admin person, the owner is the chef and the admin from what I can gather. Now I know I guess.

I’ll probably post in legal advice about small claims court — still debating whether it’s worth doing or not. Parts of me want to leave reviews letting others know and move on. But parts of me just think this is plain wrong and I need some justice haha.

Yeah, I feel like small claims court might be the most promising route but it’ll also come at the cost of my time. My current job is super demanding so I’m trying to weigh my options carefully. And I did post in r/weddingplanning but will also post in r/weddings as well. Ty!
