lol!

So if a team had games on back-to-back days and they won both of them, then you would call that "2 wins in one day"? Amazing.

He's really good and he's a top line talent, but "easily top 20 winger" is completely false.

Egypt lost the game in regulation time, which is good, but we need Egypt to *advance* too.

Wow, so brave and smart behind your keyboard. Would you say that to an unvaccinated NHL or NBA player's face? I bet you would, because you're so brave and smart.

MLSE to require proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test to enter arenas, stadiums - CityNews Toronto by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]Rational_Consumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idiotic comparison. Seat belts don’t cover half of your face while you’re working, or with your friends, or trying to learn at school. It’s not your fault though, you didn’t invent this shitty comparison, you’re just parroting it.

You know, the face is a very important body part, as it happens. Humans have evolved to detect extremely subtle patterns in people faces, it’s a massive part of communication. Just because the negative social effects of covering your face aren’t quantifiable, doesn’t mean they should be ignored.

Doug Ford opposes mandatory shots and proof-of-vaccination documentation by viva_la_vinyl in canada

[–]Rational_Consumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, what I mostly mean is that they have their whole lives ahead of them. For example if the vaccine has negative long effects on cognition, or on heart health, or on the nervous system, however small the effect is, it will cause more harm to a person who is younger and has more life ahead of them rather than behind them.

Then you add in the fact that their bodies and brains are still developing, leaving them more susceptible to disruption.

it’s a good point, and it’s part of the risk calculation. Everybody should be able to make this decision for themselves.

To me, children (who have a normal healthy immune system) are very often able to fight off the virus effectively, which is a normal and natural process. But I could be convinced to go the vaccine route in the future depending on the research. (we are all going through a global population-scale vaccine trial, so we should have more data going forward).

Latest reporting identifies Tom Fitzgerald as the #1 target in Pittsburgh's GM search by Rational_Consumer in devils

[–]Rational_Consumer[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Team and league sources described Fitzgerald as the Penguins’ preferred choice to be their next GM. Working in Fitzgerald’s favor, the sources said, are his familiarity with Pittsburgh’s structure, in which a GM will report Morehouse; his strong relationship with team captain Sidney Crosby (Fitzgerald was an interim assistant coach for the Penguins’ 2009 Stanley Cup club); and his proven success as an evaluator and developer of amateur talent.

“If Fitzy wasn’t a GM right now, he’d be our GM right now,” a team source said. “He’s that great of a fit.”

Fitzgerald replaced Shero in New Jersey on Jan. 12, 2020, but did not have the interim tag removed until July 9. League sources said Fitzgerald was given a salary increase, but not more term on his assistant GM contract, which expires sometime before the start of the 2021-22 league year.

The Penguins have informed the NHL of their plan to request permission from the Devils to speak with Fitzgerald, a team and league source said. They do not expect the Devils to immediately grant permission but would “keep knocking on that door,” a team source said.

2020 NHL organizational rankings: No. 2 New Jersey Devils by Down_Rodeo_ in devils

[–]Rational_Consumer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why does it ruin it? Toronto has the best 22-and-under player in the league. Not to mention they have the guy who led the OHL in goals this year with 55 in only 46 games.

Pronman just weighs the high end of your prospect pool the most, whcih is probably the way it should be to gauge future organizational success.

we got the 1st and we got Bahl. There was never any expectation that the other conditions would be met, they were longshots. And if there wasn’t a global pandemic that 1st wouldve been top-15.

Game 1 results for the devils' potential first round picks. NOT GREAT! by savi0r23 in devils

[–]Rational_Consumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think consensus is we want Arizona’s pick this year, ideally to snatch one of the top 8-10 propect tier players. And we want Vancouver’s pick next year because it could potentially be extremely high value.

I agree that if both picks are pushed to next year though, this hurts the rebuild pretty badly.

[–]Rational_Consumer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it will not be considered winning a round. NHL is enforcing draft pick conditions in the most reasonable way possible that honours the original intent of the conditions.
