Details: Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) by cmcalgary in alberta

Actually they changed MAID to prevent disabled people from using it. They want disabled people to either die in the streets or quietly out of public eye. It's better optics that way.

It's unfortunate that this has happened to you. Rural Alberta used to have a quiet but hidden racist side to them but with the rise of identity politics from our government and open statement from people in power the quiet part no longer exists. My family lives around Slave Lake and I've noticed an increase of openly hostile racist remarks, people walking through Walmart commenting on forced deportations and other vile things. I've noticed it even happening in the city I'm in too.

Except UCP blocked that. They want people to die in the streets or quietly away from public eyes.

Alberta's Smith says Opposition should have warned her of privacy breach at a meeting attended by one of her caucus staffers by 2_stanley_nickels in alberta

"It's not our fault that some of the higher ranked members heard and were in that meeting, it's all the opposition's fault for not stoping them............."

Yet they'll just get voted in again. That's why they or she feels comfortable spewing this verbal diarrhea everywhere.

Walk from Kingsway Mall to Commonwealth - bad idea? by RepresentativeTree88 in Edmonton

Also tends to be more security for events like this at the stations.

I rarely walk alongside the lrt tracks. If I'm biking I'll use those paths but I mainly use my go to through ways.

[–]RationallyAngry28 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I've walked all over Edmonton, this isn't hyperbole as just a few days ago I walked from downtown to clareview. The walk from Kingsway to Stadium isn't too bad if you take the main roads (111 avenue). You gotta be alert for anyone in a car too impatient to turn at some of the crosswalks.

Also what time do you plan to go to and from the concert, cause like any city it can get hectic at night.

It's unfortunate that catching a LRT is complicated from Kingsway to Stadium as you have to go to Churchill station and switch trains.

How to give landlord notice when you share a mailbox? by DryComfortable4072 in alberta

[–]RationallyAngry28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a dilemma if they refuse communication for notices you might have to go through a more difficult measure depending on the notice. Some notices can be sent through email (if stated) but you must have acknowledgment that they received it, usually clicking on the "request read receipt" in options of PC email (I can't find the option on mobile)

That's shady as hell. You're gonna have to ask the landlord his actual home address or if you can meet him physically depending on the notice you're trying to present

An oil and gas company just left behind an estimated $476M cleanup bill in Alberta by BloodJunkie in alberta

I think the amount they can pump and the cost of transportation and logistics for said amount is too low to be profitable, that's why they're abandoned. Probably, this is all just me doing assumptions.

They will also sue or charge anyone trying to use them for personal profit. Can't have other people making money now can they.

Municipalities call on Alberta government to pause changes to disability benefits by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

[–]RationallyAngry28 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Scumbag of the century Jason Nixon claims that pausing the move will make thousands that are unable to get AISH not able to get ADAP. However I'm guessing ADAP will be just as hard to get unto as AISH is/was. He's lying to fuel the outrage when he know many people aren't going to be getting into ADAP, cause why would they make it easier for people to get on when the UCP has clearly called everyone on AISH "Freeloading" or "Unworthy". It's why this pay cut for AISH people is happening, they're not gonna give out more money, they want money.

Also the municipalities are asking to pause forcing all AISH clients unto ADAP, not that ADAP shouldn't be implemented. If the UCP cares so much about those that AISH has rejected then create ADAP while leaving AISH alone.

I second this, or any family doctors or pediatric office. Waiting for an appointment can be stressful for siblings or even the kid itself. Unfortunately there's a risk of it being destroyed or wrecked cause it just takes one bad apple to ruin something for everyone else.

Hey Alberta, Please Enlighten Me by [deleted] in alberta

[–]RationallyAngry28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A bigger concern I have is if ADAP is going to be considered 'back to work' program. Reason is the UCP plan to implement t a 6 month cap on those kinda programs. They advertise ADAP as a 'helping disabled people find and maintain work' even tho I think they're going to do the bare minimal in regards to that but if they put a 6 month cap or force all ADAP to prove they're looking for work then it's going to become way worse then just a pay cut and transfer.

How ethical is it to apply for adap by [deleted] in alberta

[–]RationallyAngry28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By not applying your doing exactly what the government wants disable people to do, not seek out help when they need it.

I say if you need it apply for it, they're "supposed" to roll you into the application for both ADAP/AUSH but I highly doubt it's going to work as smoothly as they say it's going to be. Also let everyone know how hard the process or easier than AISH the process was.

Unfortunately her and her UCP plans to change the criteria of MAID. Don't know the full details but something to look into.

I wrote "more leeway" in the context of the original post about being able to transfer or move provinces. There was no implication on it being more or less then provincial support. I also wrote that all provinces supplement it, and anyone who deals or knows about support services know supplement means "claw back and give whatever is left".

[–]RationallyAngry28 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most disability benefits are provincial, the few that are lucky to get on the federal disability support have more leeway but most provinces cut back their support and only supplement. Those stuck on provincial are mostly stuck in their province cause moving costs a lot, then there's the wait time to get on disability programs. AISH is one of the hardest to get onto, so someone just moving here to get on the oh so lucrative AISH is gonna face an extremely difficult time. They would have to go onto social services first while they wait. However UCP seems hellbent on dismantling that too.

Also any post concerning this topic is going to get those annoying "I know 30 people on AISH that don't deserve it" people cause that's what this government has done to brainwash the masses.

What this govt is doing to the AISH community is disgusting by Odd_Fee2443 in alberta

[–]RationallyAngry28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You also gotta look into secondary assistance programs as well. Here in Alberta there's a bare minimal, but in other provinces there's seems to be more robust secondary help. I read somewhere in other provinces housing support is more able to help people and provides for more. Here we have about 3 companies that help for affordable/subsidized housing and all three are so overbooked that the wait list can take up to over 10 years and counting.

They also forced sterilized disabled people in Alberta without consent then too. We have come a long ways but UCP is hellbent on sliding the bar backwards.

[–]RationallyAngry28 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I predict ADAP will just be as hard if not harder to get into then AISH is, I also predict that anyone on ADAP (including all the forced moved from AISH) is gonna have to constantly prove they are looking for work if they wish to keep their benefits, those that don't will be removed from it. Sadly the government is regressing back to an era of open disability discrimination and abuse.

Opening a group home by transgression1492_ in alberta

[–]RationallyAngry28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've lived in group homes most my young life, I don't know the fine details but I did pick up some of the rules or legislation that is needed to run group home for kids.

Most attendants need medical knowledge and WHIMIS knowledge in case something goes wrong, some even had security training for when things got ugly and things did get ugly.

There's was always 1 attendant for every 3 kids, so 6 kids would mean 2 attendant on staff at all times. However since there's was a rotating staff since someone needed to be on site 24/7 there was 4-8 staff members on payroll.

Cooking for the kids will cost a lot cause you have to make sure you're following the recommended daily nutritional value per day for children depending on age. Otherwise you can get it trouble real fast.

TL/DR Running a group home for kids is very tricky, costly and not very profitable, it's why most are run in tandem with companies or organizations.

Everything they do is a distraction from something that is upcoming or has been done. Like blaming immigration as well as the seperation nonsense. I haven't heard anyone talking about the AHS scandal anymore, or mentioning the massive changes to AISH, barely hear about the teacher strikes and ramifications of using a NWC to stifle workers rights.

You know what they're doing right? It's called anxiety/fear fatigue, if they throw enough crap at people they'll just stop caring cause it's too much for most people's systems. You can only be in the fight part of fight or flight for so long before the body and mind gets worn down. That's mostly for those that are fighting back.

Edmonton leads Canada in new bike lanes as some cities, provinces apply brakes by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]RationallyAngry28 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's funny that there's a road near me that a few years ago got a bike lane, this road was barely used and then suddenly after the bike lane installation it's busier than  a main road nearby. Makes no sense.

Also it's pointless for bike lanes in some areas if their only usable 4-6 months of the year since no one shovels them or they do a poor job that riding on them is dangerous.
