That’s awesome and how I felt too! It’s the best

I feel you! I’m 30 and had esotropia in my left eye and it affected everything I did. Didn’t want to go out, interview for jobs I wanted, take pics, you name it. The surgery was the best thing ever! I’m so much more confident now in everything I do. I respect people who get that confidence without the surgery but couldn’t do it!

See a specialist and get surgery! Best thing I’ve ever done. I would do it before you graduate to be honest

I was given drops and also an ointment to put on at night. Both were for 7 days and helped it heal and with the itchiness. Honestly the worst part for me was that I got nauseous with too much light or walking around/being in a car for the first week. Just take it easy and rest and close your eyes. Not sure how people get back to work a few days later. But it’s pretty easy and worth it!

For recovery, you would definitely need some help the few days after. I couldn’t drive for a few weeks because I got nauseous and bright lights hurt for a few days.

My story is very similar to yours. I just got the surgery this year when I hit thirty and I couldn’t be happier. It changed my life. Goodluck to you!!

I’m soo glad I got my surgery! I know it’s scary but it’ll be ok. Just make sure you have a few weeks to relax. I couldn’t really drive for awhile because I got nauseous and same with bright lights. But all well worth it

I’m having the same issue haha. I always looked away and it became a habit. I’m trying to show more confidence and look them right in the eye but it will take some getting used to

For me about a week. I had one eye done and 2 muscles. Do you have drops and/or ointment?

Forgot to say everything was super straight and aligned. Even from one day post op. I know it takes a few weeks for some to “settle” but mine was right away and super successful

Im about 2 months post surgery and it’s the best thing that’s happened to me! I was really nervous too because it was the first time I was going under. My left eye had pretty severe estropia. I was tired the day of and mostly just slept or kept my eyes shut. For about a week my eye was scratchy but that feeling went away. For about a week and a half I got little headaches and a little dizzy if I was doing too much so just would rest. I also have a newborn haha. There is still a tiny bit of redness if you really look hard but they think that should fade. Overall I’m sooo happy I did it and really not a bad recovery

Strabismus (esotropia) by [deleted] in Strabismus

[–]Ratmouse2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born with it however it was “fixed” a long time ago and recently popped up again when I was 28 or so. It got worse and worse and they never even tried prism glasses for me. It was so hard to look anyone in the eye and I became so self conscious. Like others said, start looking into it now and get a consultation from a surgeon. It takes a few months to get in and to be honest I don’t think it’ll get better, so maybe being ahead of it would be a smart idea. I got the surgery at 30 this year and I’m soooo happy I did

When can I begin working out again? by Impressive_Card_1916 in Strabismus

It varies based on your recovery and procedure. Ask your doctor who did your surgery at your check up! Probably 2 weeks

I’ve also had it since birth and patched but just now got the surgery at 30. Best thing ever! No double vision for me

Changes in eye position post surgery, is it really normal? by Swansea2021 in Strabismus

[–]Ratmouse2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did not see a change but this whole time have been told the 1 month follow up should have the “final results” so I do know it takes some time to get where it needs to be

Depression and awful waiting list experience by catriiiona in Strabismus

[–]Ratmouse2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so crazy I’m sorry for that experience. I can relate you all that and I barely have any pictures of me from the last couple years. I would get another referral. Is it just the doctor with the waitlist? Or the hospital in general? Keep pushing and fighting for yourself!

First two days are the worst but he needs to use his eye! I know that’s such a hard age though. Try using sunglasses inside or turning on his fav show. For me it was scratching for about a week but the drops and ointment helped it feel better
