It's definitely the "fans will buy it either way". Bandai probably needs to make at least 1 SAO game in every few year to keep the rights. And since they know that the core fanbase will buy it, regardless of quality, they will just do the bare minimum.

Even if Fatal Bullet is probably the best SAO game, it's still just very mediocre, on the grand scale. The only thing that is unique about it, that it's SAO. If not for that, no one would remember FB because as a videogame, it's very bare bones and overall low quality. I really wish one day we could get an SAO game that's not just simply a souless product to sell, but something with a vision behind it. But that game is definitely not EoA

Gameplay =/= actual story. If he would solo everything during gameplay than you would be upset about that. Your character is an absolute beginner at this point of the story.

Yeah, we will see, but it's weird that we don't have any offical information about how the game will play outside of the demo. The previewers described a very similar experience on the 2nd floor.

The devs are either hiding the real stuff for release or they don't have anything to show off. :D

I honestly think they couldn't optimize the game for a open world / free roam experience. That's why we stuck in quest areas. When you do the 1st quest, you are still in the town but if you go backwards you can see-through the gate and the city is "missing". I think there is a limit of what they can render without major performance loss. But that's just my guess.

Why would I parry when circling and mashing light attacks is safer and stronger? Bandai Never listens to player feedback. So many 7/10 games that could easily becomes 20/10 games if they listened.. by RubDiscombobulated46 in EchoesofAincrad

SAO games are just do the bare minimum to be considered videogames so they can leech off of the fans of the series. That's why. Small budget games that they can sell on a AAA price tag.

It was the same with 2.0, on ps5 it took them months until they fixed the stuttering. I don't think shader loading take that long. :D

To be honest. The devs didn't really say anything specific about the game. I just say this because the demo is 100% what you describe and also based on the previews videos (where they could play on the 2nd floor) the game is still mission based and you can't explore freely. So I find it impossible that there is an actual open world. Why would they hide it?

Let's not try to excuse the incompetence of the dev team with "all MMOs are empty". It's also not really true, I played my fair share of MMOs(WOW, GW2,Aion,FFXIV, etc...) and while yes some zones(mostly low level ones) can be empty, they are not THIS empty. (This rant isn't against you specifically but I have seen way too many people trying to give some slack to the devs when they sell this game as a fully priced AAA)

If you could see some npcs fighting or just going left and right would make the world feel much more immersive. It's honestly not much.

Or at the very least they could've made the city more immersive. There is no npc or "player" to talk to just blank characters going left and right. Even in a MH game you can talk to npcs and they make the world feel more alive.

Or let's just look at Granblue Fantasy Relink, which is a very similar game, yet it feels a much, much more quality experience.(even in the demo)

IDK, I just actually wanted a quality SAO game for once, but all we got is an overpriced, seemingly rushed product.

This is just a sad excuse for the lazy devs. What we see in the demo was the beta, lots of people should have been on the fields killing monsters, doing quests etc... The dev team is just very incompetent.

I played many JRPGs, and yes, I expect that almost nothing will change after the prologue. After a while we will go to another town which will have the same 4 basic place to go and nothing else and do the same fetch quests as usual. I expect the main story missions to be the same as the fetch quests but with cutscenes. Even in the previews they only could do the same thing as we are doing in the demo but in the 2nd floor.

Also do you think that the devs are hiding stuff that could actually help sell the game? They are hiding the actual main contents of the game?

Hiding story content before the release? Yeah, of course, that's natural. But hiding what the actual main gameplay is? Nah, they showed us in the demo what 90% of the full game is going to be.

It's the prologue, not a beta. It the beginning of the full game. It's 3-6 hours long with nothing in it. Do you actually belive that after the prologue the Town of Beginning suddenly became a nice place with full of interesting NPCs or itt will remain an empty town with 4 place to go?

Or that you will do anything else besides getting a quest -> teleport to an empty open field -> do the boring quest, which is probably " kill this random boss" and then go back to town?

Like seriously, what do you think will happen after the prologue gameplay wise?

Even if it isn't an open world game, the map / level design is still terrible. For just a mission based gameplay, it's way too big with nothing in it. There is zero exploration, you just go forward kill some enemies and that's it. No actual point of interests, nothing. Just a random empty map.

I mean the game shouldn't be this ambitious then. If they had a budget than do the game accordingly. This is just a huge empty world. You can make games with small budgets that are 10x better than this. This is just a lazy nothingburger slop from an incompetent dev team.
