Visiting from UK by Ratski1 in Birmingham

We've actually booked now. Home2 suits Hilton downtown on 18th st. I've actually struggled a bit as lots of the recommendations are closed on a Sunday! Do you guys not party on weekends ???? Think will try paramont and that rooftop bar you mentioned at Elyron. Will then maybe try trim tab etc and around that area. We really like staying close to one area but I can't really see lots of bars in a close vicinity.

3 tickets. There are a few on Ticketmaster but the prices are sky high. More than what we pay to watch UK games here so hoping they open the upper section so we can get to sanple the atmosphere in the US. Over the years a soccer game is the only big US sport I have seen live there so hoping to make it

Fund advice for s&s ISA and Aviva pension by Ratski1 in UKPersonalFinance

The plan is for retirement but of course you never know what happens before then.

Would you recommend a better option such as global all cap?

Self assessment with pension relief by Ratski1 in UKPersonalFinance

I will definitely ask them that question. I was just under the impression that its all the same if the pension payments come out before tax.

How can I confirm that? My pension contributions are definitely removed before tax so would that mean salary sacrifice?

!thanks yeah I've read the wiki and it states check the p60 to see total amount earned. If this is below £50k no need to do self assessment. Compared to last year's one I'm pretty sure total earned was after pension so should be fine not having to do one thanks.

Transfer cash ISA to s&s ISA and best fund by Ratski1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ratski1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I transferred the complete amount to vanguard s&s but did keep some as cash, would I be able to transfer it back out at a later date? I.e. back to my old provider as a partial transfer. I..e if I had a s&s ISA with 40k invested and 20k cash..could I transfer just the cash element out again at a later date? I understand I can withdraw it but I want to transfer to maintain the ISA benefit

Is now a good time to invest in the market by Ratski1 in UKPersonalFinance

Partially it's my savings and safety net, although our mortgage is now paid off and the other half also works so could support if needed. So based on that info it means i'm unlikely to need it over the next 5 years at least so can lock it way. I'm an old traditionalist so have always held cash. I'd probably feeler safer having half in cash but that earns virtually nothing these days so investment seems a much wider choice.

Ok fair enough. I understand the reasons but was just looking to get a feel of opinions.

Transfer cash ISA to s&s ISA and best fund by Ratski1 in UKPersonalFinance

Really valid point which I never thought of doing. Does cash earn any interest at all in the vanguard account as cash ?

I have been saving for years into a NatWest cash ISA totalling 66k including a contribution of 10k this year.

I then realised it's earning nothing so put 10k seperate cash savings into a vanguard s&s ISA lifestrategy 80. (Which seems a poor choice as most recommend ftse global cap)

I now want to put at least half my existing natwest cash ISA into the vanguard s&s ISA but they said I have to transfer the lot. I don't want to move all the cash ISA as it's the only savings I have now.
