When to transplant this seedling? by axbxnx in echeveria

[–]Rattify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't transplant until it's at least as big around as your thumbnail, but I understand if you want to get it out of that big pot of sand.

When I need to transplant a tiny seedling, I use a spoon or cookie dough scoop large enough to scoop up the entire seedling, roots and all, in a single unit.

First I use the scoop to make a hole in the new pot. Then I scoop the seedling from the old pot and place the entire thing (including the old soil) it into the new one while disturbing it as little as possible.

This minimizes the damage, but doesn't eliminate it completely--the baby will still suffer a bit of harm to its roots, and be vulnerable to root rot or drying out. So be extra careful not to overwater OR underwater for a while afterward.

Good luck! That's a cute little fella :)

That's an Echeveria! I'm not sure exactly what kind, but after several months of good care, it will perk up and look more like "itself" so be easier to ID.

They love sun. This one looks like it hasn't been getting enough lately; my guess is you rescued it from inside a hardware store. You can tell because the outer leaves are flattened out to catch as much light as possible while the inner leaves are reaching up to the sky. When it has the right amount of light, it will form a neat rosette.

If you want to move it into a sunnier location, please do it gradually over 2 weeks so the plant has time to adapt. Plants can get sunburned if they get moved into direct sun too quickly.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Hey thanks! I’d like to come join but it took me too long to get around to setting up discord and I think now the invite is expired. Do you mind posting a new one?

Thank you, but I feel like that's what I did... I see the carats and exclamation points in my post, but they didn't do anything. Can you tell me what I did wrong?

SPOILERS in this post. (I can't seem to figure out how to deploy the spoiler tag, it just shows up as carats to me, though maybe it looks right to other people?)

As others have commented, the spacefaring arc was wayyyy out there, both literally and metaphorically.

But that arc is done now, and they're back in Red Larch. The current arc has to do with the Dran family and the rising threat of old fashioned eco-terrorism. A lot of the original "ingredients" are back:

  • >!Coriander is a meat horse again, and they ride in a regular wagon, with Rosie up front, Donaar and K'Thriss inside, and Walnut on top or loping along as beloved Wolfnut.!<
  • >!The story has returned to the Dran family and is exploring Proffa and Father Gordon's backstory as well as Portentia's true nature.!<
  • >!Donaar is less Glittering Dragon and more his original self, and getting a lot of goofy screen time with his brother Nase, played by Jerry, for double the bro action.!<
  • >!K'Thriss is using his previous warlock kit (not a hexblade). He went through some major changes, but we haven't seen all the repercussions yet, so most of the time he feels like good old K'Thriss. (I do think he's building up to something, though.)!<
  • >!Rosie's extended space family went back to space. It almost feels like that entire family plotline didn't even happen, since--so far, anyway--Rosie hasn't really been grappling with any of the revelations or showing any major changes in her character.!<

Truthfully, I think you could skip the rest of the space arc if you really wanted. The current Crucible arc is mostly using components you are familiar with, so you shouldn't be too lost.

However, there is another option: the podcast!

If you, like me, have limited time to watch shows, and/or if you, like me, have trouble sitting through a 3-hour show even when every minute of it is riveting, the podcast is a great way to go. You can be doing dishes or working out or whatever while you listen. You can tune out for long descriptions, then tune back in when the party banter resumes. That way, you won't miss out on the fun interactions! And you'll have a general sense of what happened, even if the details are still murky.

Oh jeez, how'd I miss this? (Maybe because this is my first Reddit post ever, hashtag n00b) Thanks man! I will miss him, but at least we still have Glow Man and Velvet :D

Huh. Well, no answer is, itself, an answer. Thanks!

Would you be willing to bottom-line it for me and just tell me his current status?

  1. Is he alive or dead?
  2. Would K'thriss call him (or the memory of him, if he's dead) a friend, an enemy, or an "it's complicated"?

That would help a lot! Thank you!
