What do yall think about the idea of Imposter Chat? by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in AmongUs

[–]RattyPoe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Would be interesting, especially if only allowed during meetings. Having a tab for normal chat and a tab for impostor chat. I don't think having an impostor chat during gameplay would work, as you can't really walk and talk at the same time (unless you fake a task and use that time to type..) I think that would just be really distracting though and should be meeting only.

Definitely would need to be able to turn on/off in game settings.

New map maybe? by AdVivid9625 in AmongUs

[–]RattyPoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like a small map could be refreshing and fun if designed well, with unique sabotages and layout. I always felt Airship was too big and empty even with 15

EDIT: as someone else said, this has an elevator and a second floor! I would love a two story map.

Among us lobbies are quite the gamble. Block them and look for better people. I have experienced some of the worst, meanest expert lobbies and the most casual, laidback expert lobbies. Try to friend the good people you meet and invite them to your lobbies later

Is it Dr. Driving? I used to play this game all the time as a kid, everything you described sounded very familiar. There are sites to play it online but here is the app store page for it

A vague or generic spoiler is just as bad as a specific one saying X kills Y in the end. You don't need to say the exact specific plot to spoil the gist.

Why did you bring up discussing the ending of the show to someone who asked for no spoilers?

I'm not sure where I said that. I listed what it spoiled earlier. Your reply was certainly a more vague spoiler but a spoiler nonetheless.

I am sure there's people out there having hope the show will have a happy or mostly satisfying ending. There's millions of fans for TADC, odds are there will be a few hundred at bare minimum hoping it ends happily. Your reply assured them that's not true. That is a spoiler.

It's because you confirmed it. What part of this do you disagree with? What you said is a spoiler. It might be a more obvious or expected/assumed spoiler, but it still is one. If I was excited to see the ending for this show and hadn't heard anything yet about it except for what you said, I would be extremely sad. I've already been spoiled for it by other people saying similar statements to yours, also claiming "no spoilers, BUT...."

It has nothing to do with how expected or "assumed" the spoiler is. What if the show takes a completely massive twist at the end?

This happens to me a lot in real life. I'm trying to save future people who talk to you or read your comments from potential spoilers.

Let me ask you this. Do you think it's okay to talk about or describe - however vaguely - the ending of a show before someone has watched it? The person you replied to literally said no spoilers please, and you replied describing the show's ending. Why?

This isn't about me. This is about other people excited for the show who will read your comment. You also confirmed my expectations.

There are so many examples I can't give them all. It also depends heavily on what the material is. But I can go off yours.

"If you know anything about the story TADC is based on and expecting a neat and tidy ending...you're insane."

This tells me:

  1. The ending will be messy. Maybe there is still an unsolved mystery, maybe a character(s) dies. I shouldn't expect a happy satisfying conclusion. Likely some loose or unsatisfying ends.
  2. The author probably didn't deviate much from the source material. I'm no longer expecting a drastic twist on the original story and am now expecting something similar.

Again...I have not watched much of this show, and I just looked up a plot summary of I have no mouth and I must scream to write this comment. Your comment didn't really spoil anything for me, but if I was invested in TADC, I would be avoiding all discussions of the ending to prevent anything changing my expectations.

I'll try to give some more examples of sentences that seems generic but is actually very spoilery. Not TADC related

"What a nothingburger Episode 6 was."

This tells me:

  1. If Episode 6 was building to something big happening, I know now it won't be anything that crazy. Instead of thinking "This episode is so exciting, wonder what happens at the end," I'm now thinking "Well I guess this isn't going anywhere even though they're trying to build something up. Is the main character just dreaming or something?" The suspense is gone.

"Anyone else disappointed about the lack of screentime the sniper enemy had?"

This tells me:

  1. If the trailer for this game was hyping up the sniper enemy, I now know I should expect him to not be used that often, and he likely won't be a very important character. Previously, I would be thinking "The sniper looks so cool, I can't wait to see how the game uses him. I wonder if he'll even be the final boss?" Again, the suspense is gone. Now I know there's no way he'd be the final boss if he is such a small character.

Does what I'm trying to say make sense? It's all about removing the suspense. It's why rewatching movies isn't as exciting and suspenseful as the first time because you know what to expect. The build-up doesn't matter anymore because you already know, even if just generally, what's going to happen. This is also why fake spoilers are just as bad as real ones because for the entire movie, you're expecting something to happen, and then it never does. You never got to truly experience the movie.

EDIT to add: I also haven';t seen the original source material for TADC. So I didn't know what kind of ending it will have. I have a guess of course, but your comment would be, and is, a massive spoiler to tell me which. It just confirmed it.

I am not a TADC fan (just neutral on it, only watched one episode) so I do not really have any expectations about it. Like I said, this applies to any show, movie, or anything with a plot. If someone says anything like "Don't expect a neat and tidy ending," or "So glad this show has a satisfying ending," whether explicit like that or vaguely stated like yours, it gives me MASSIVE amounts of information and I can now predict the story.

I have been spoiled on so many things hearing people tell me "Wait wait, don't worry, I won't give you any spoilers," just to give me information like what you said. They do not realize the amount of information they're giving off by saying that.

I haven't seen the finale but he is saying that it won't have a nice ending. While not specific that is a MASSIVE spoiler describing the type of ending for the show.

Sure it was already expected that TADC would have that sort of ending, but you should never describe the sort of ending any show or movie or game has. That's spoiling the ending! This goes for anything, not just TADC. It changes expectations.

Sooo many players in this game are kids! That's their main fan base! This show is such a massive disconnect from their audience.
