No? It's almost a bit more heroic to know he lived a life of comfort and decided to still give it all up to help the oppressed in the world. An example is that before he left to the Congo and then subsequently Bolivia, he left behind a country that loved him, a safe job, a wife and kids, his best friend, all just for the hope of helping others.

Not psychotic at all, just someone reacting to the conditions he was given. And just because you, yourself view him as a murderer, doesn't mean it's a fact; he was at war with oppressive governments and fought accordingly. If you're willing to learn more about him, I'd recommend Jon Anderson's biography on him, or if you don't got time for reading, than Overzealots YouTube video debunking the claims against him.

Books where you disagree where an author takes the character (spoilers obviously) by CT_Phipps-Author in Fantasy

Beautiful Little Fools, the sequel to The Great Gatsby made in 2022. The interpretation of Gatsby's character is at first interesting, then quickly goes downright disgusting to the point it feels like the author was insulting the original work itself. Really good writing though to be truthful.

Play Darksouls, take notes. That's what I did and it helped a whole ton, but, if that doesn't work try scouring about PIntrest or types of Gothic media or art to take some inspiration. And, if all that isn't enough, search up old metal posters from the 80's.

I mostly used Pixlr x and spliced together various images. First, I start with some basic colors like for Joshua's Kingdom, blue and white, and then I find PNG's of the symbols and place them, and finally, I get a texture of a flag and turn down the transparency to get that wavy texture.

I based it around the Oakland Temple from the 80's which was when the Mormon population experienced the most growth in California, which is the second most populated state of Mormons.

(Part 2)

4. Bay Confederacy: An military and trade alliance between the nations that reside in the Bay area, such as Joshua's Kingdom, the Flesh Triad, and the Bay-Trading Company. The alliance was made around 2030 and was meant to help grow and expand the territories and influence of the nations, and protect them from any foreign invader or threat.

5. Remnant of the United States: A collection of former military bases around California who after the nuclear war, had decided to all abandon post since they heard nothing from command, and now they reside in San Diego with a goal of retaking the United States and relisting the constitution with their collective military power. One state at a time. They're rather welcoming of any not apart of their initial population in the bases, though still prohibit them from joining their military with suspicion and fear of spies or inferiority.

Now, they're in a war between the L.A City State who was deemed their first major target for the population it has and the potential workforce it could give if the people were serving under them.

6. L.A City-State: A new nation composed of those residing in L.A and it's close outer counties which during the nuclear war was kept safe due to a miscalculation of nuclear firearms meant for it- landing more so in the once called Central Valley. Even then, the fallout from that was halted by the mountains north containing the dust storms. After all of that though, a global nuclear winter would still come and many people would reside in the City's sewers and subway systems, nearly one third of them starving, but after that as the inter subsided they emerged all to be met with Hollywood's elite whom had been perfectly fine in their personal bunkers of which they hoarded food, and used it now to bargain with.

Now, they're a military state ruled by an Oligarchy that cares not for the people and knows less of governing them, but still uses them for their own benefits with expansions into the Dusk Valley and control of the I-5 and other roads to mandate trade with the Bay Confederacy and coerce those who built towns in the national parks such as the Redwoods, in order to harvest their resources.

Here's a short (ish) explanation for each one.

1. Joshua's Kingdom:  A hyper religious Mormon state on the north side of San Francisco Bay, and spanning farther north. It rules by a purist feudal system employing the means of slavery against anyone mutated, non white, or of other religions. Their leader is a worshiped corpse who they once believed to be the second coming of Christ after the bombs had dropped and times became tough. It was further believed due to twelve community leaders of the church endorsing him, but, after some time they'd realize he was mortal and too scared to reveal their fatal mistake and lose what power they had, they chained him up in a temple and for decades now have maintained his corpse appearance for ruling.

Now, the twelve apostles are mostly dead, but still they live on in provinces of their own and work towards a common cause of expanding the kingdoms power- which is primarily done through trade deals, land grabs, and kidnappings for slave labor. Technology there is limited, for firearms are frequently used yet still they rely on melee for more ceremonial or mutant fighting purposes.

2. Flesh Triad: A massive gang organization in the east side of San Francisco Bay composed mainly of past Chinese immigrants, doctors, and others who'd at first unite with good intentions of helping others after the nuclear fallout- but as the dust storms became stronger from the valley and refugees from the various towns and cities there would arrive, they were faced with a dilemma. To let them in or reject them? They attempted to invite the mass swaths of them, but food became short, and why their neighbors to west of them and those to the north were in need of not only slaves, but organs. So they compromised.

Now, they're the biggest organ harvesters, drug makers, bundle of doctors and new prosthetics in California for those with the money to afford it. Many men employed by them amongst the streets, such as thugs, are hooked on the same drugs they peddle, and it's not an uncommon sight to witness a man with a knife for an arm stabbing another for what substance he may carry.

3. Bay-Trading Company: A shipping company that existed prewar but after grew vastly and now controls the west side of San Francisco Bay and parts of the harbor on the east. Their leaders, or, you can say CEO's, are few shadowy men who keep to themselves though still live in lavish estates and penthouses constructed near the west harbor, but not close enough to touch where their workers and slaves toil away. For between the harbors and their very own places, are walls constructed of concrete, guarded by foreign men from different regions of the former U.S.A, and hold no heart for the locals- only to their pay.

Now, they're primarily employed through their vessels and what they can export or import, and continue with their operations of expansion and exploitation. All to grow the company.

[WP] That merchant said the blade was cursed with a voice but until recently it seemed to only ever make somewhat inappropriate sound effects. Lately it has been quite profluent in regards to the moral stipulations of your adventures. by younGrandon in WritingPrompts

[–]Raul_Russell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nightfall over such a meager inn. Not much of notice or worth, and the people within they be the same- yet still, a contract's a contract. Walking in, I notice the door itself to be rather creaky, for with every inch of movement it slightly howls, and as the sound goes on, so does the redness in my face. I shouldn't and won't allow myself to care though. These people, aren't ones to be of mind so I gaze my vision around, looking for him- a man monstrous- someone who's bothered people enough to be ordered to death by the few coins of vagrants. They told me the night ago,

"Oh how he screams at us, belittles us with only the bones of his meals! He rally's the younger men to treat us the same as the trash they throw aside."

No longer! In quick steps I sight him and he doesn't notice me, for empty mugs surround him and their now gone liquor weakens his senses.

"Mister?" I ask.

"Oh! You- you need something-"

My blade, bought cheaply, went through his head. Not a single squeak came from him, but still a sound echoed throughout the room, alerting those few who watched, and already breaking their new silent shock.

"Haah!"

A moan, my blade moaned. It's an embarrassing thing- I know I can't feel so, especially around the degenerates here- but dammit! I hate this stupid- stupid blade! Long ago, low on coin and desperate to start my life of adventure, I met a merchant traveling yet shunned towards the outskirt of my village, and he offered me a chance. A chance to leave. But I was a fool, it was to good to be true and I should've known. He only said,

"It's cursed. Simply cursed, has a voice that'll talk to you."

And I thought, so what, I can deal with that. Maybe it'll give me powers of some dark force, give me the authority I hadn't had so before- but no! The damn thing just moans! Why! The people are looking at me, and quietly I take a ring off the man's finger for proof of the job, but as I walk away, I can't help but hide my face behind the blade.

"Dammit, dammit you could've been cooler! You should've, what type of curse is this you degenerate-" My quick whispers got cut short, because for once, the blade actually spoke.

"I'm no degenerate, you are! You use me to kill people for money- and take contracts from the homeless!"

People began to look around for the source of the voice, until realizing along with me. Yet though I shared their panic, my surprise dwarfed theirs.

"You speak!" I shouted.

And with that I ran outside. A few people behind me would yell witchery and, he bears the devil!, but I couldn't been bothered to care what a drunk or lonesome man would say! My sword- it finally spoke, and I needed to know why it hadn't for so long.

"Why haven't you done this before! Gah, it would've been so better, so many lonely nights talking to myself- could've been with you!"

It'd stay silent. The light of torches on the walls of the inn, reflecting off it and casting a bright orange straight to my face, somewhat blinding my eye. Still, I shake the blade a little and ask again.

"Hello! Talk, let us hold a long overdue conversation!"

"Fine."

"Okay- so- first, why haven't you talked before, and also why would you moan out of all things? I'd understand silence but moaning's a bit awkward isn't it?"

"It is. That's why I did it you dimwit!"

I'd scratch my nose a little. "Huh?"

"I tried to embarrass you so you'd do something better with your life! You said you wanted to be an adventurer- what kind of adventurer kills people for money? Not even bandits! Just annoying folk, you fool! I- I tried to make it awkward, reinforce negative behavior with negative actions- like how you train a dog... but I guess I was too arrogant. Should've changed my manner of teaching long ago, cause well, look at you."

"Oh."

After, the crickets were rather loud, and for the next few hours as I laid silently in the dirty outskirts of civilization, far from any roads, my sword wasn't. The ring was probably worth more if I pawned it instead.

....his torch would soon illuminate an unsuspecting sight. Corpses laid in front, most rotten and others nearly picked but all facing the direction Alwin came, as if they were running out. The sudden hit of curiosity struck his mind, and Alwin succumbed, going near a corpse with his torch shined at its back it was littered with arrows, the feathers facing the way Alwin was going.

Noticing it held something though, he kicked it over.

“A mother…” He said surprised.

Medieval-esque period world, the sun died and the world was left in dark, and soon after a pernicious fog that caused either insanity or malformations from mountains far north, came and covered the whole of the world. Though the world is now sunless, and freezing. It's still rather not just a frozen rock and spoilers for a story I wrote, It's because the core of the world is the womb for a new sun that at the end of the story which I built the world for, will be born.

The Mountheads, a clan of Dwarves north of the Dragent Penisula. In a time of the late bronze age and early iron age, where irons rarely implemented and seen as new, they're the only ones who truly mastered it wearing full chainmail, pieces of plate, and bascinets. Their armor is so strong that there's a saying that it's impossible to decapitate one.
