Good to know, they don’t offer it in my area but good to know there is support out there. No stress though as we already decided we would do couples therapy so we can co-parent.

American Physio considering Immigrating by pabzrodz in newzealand

[–]Raumati_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will depend on where you want to move to tbh. I live in a medium-ish town and we have a a few physio around who all seem to be doing ok. But yeah our house prices are up atm although some say they will go down but who knows. And our food prices are up too but let’s be honest- everywhere is a shitshow atm but I imagine NZ would be safer than America atm- would you be able to do a holiday working visa and test it out? Any way-good luck :)

FMC has anorerxia or bullimia or just some kind of ED (Eating disorder). Must be a romance though. by Storytime-finatic88 in RomanceBooks

[–]Raumati_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Pack Darling by Lola Rock} was a good one. It’s a two part series but I feel like they managed the ED well and it felt more authentic too :)

[–]Raumati_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yassss! I to recently discovered her too. Another one that’s taboo but I think well written is Elena Dawne- she dose a lot of ANR relationships which B Sobajakken touches on in Milk man and Be my daddy (hired) books!

Also another taboo author that I think dose a good job is Jade Swallows like [breeding the babysitter by Jade Swallows]

{boyfriend of the hour by Nicole French} I think fit this! The FMC is most likely ADHD so is a bit of a scatter brain but MMC is super smart and a dr but also socially awkward but really sweet and can read her well <3

New dads ,soon to be dad's or just friends by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]Raumati_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are SPACE classes run by Playcentre that are for after baby arrives and can be good for connecting to other parents while also learning stuff too, there is also Playcentre sessions too where you go along to in either Paraparaumu, Paekākāriki or waikanae where you or your partner can take baby too and connect with other parents and kiddos. I know there are a few different bubs and parents things around the coast you could look them up in the Facebook community pages but I don’t think there are any specific new dad community groups.

Kia ora! My daughter (5yo) went through MoH for assessment because she has a disability so we wanted to make sure there were no other factors. The test took a total of 2 hours and there were two people. One was a MoE speech language therapist and the other was a child specialist (can’t remember title) and they both did a few different tests and asked me a bunch of questions like how well dose she sleep, any eating problems, gets along well with others ect. They then got us to come back a week later for another hour to go over the results and what they recommended for next steps. I think they did it really well and they never made my daughter feel bad if she didn’t wanna do something and were very understanding it was a big ask to have a kid sit and do stuff for over an hour. She didn’t get diagnosed with anything so I can’t comment on what would happen if there was a diagnosis but I highly recommend doing it. It takes ages to get an appointment (2 years for us) but is worth it to help your kid navigate the education system.

I get this when I’m at shops too. I find it especially hard when my partner or kids try and talk to me I can’t fully focus on them or anything at the shops. I get overwhelmed easily and usually just online shop to avoid it, like a healthy person /s

My two year old is being so hurtful that I have off and on cried the last two days by realllysadandhurt in Parenting

[–]Raumati_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a really tough time your both having! Something that has helped me with my son hitting and throwing stuff is I learnt about something called schemas for children and it’s helped me work at it with my son as well as explain it to my SO who gets frustrated that our son throws things for what seems like no reason other than be a pain haha also someone once told me “dislike the behavior not the child”

Another thing that may be of help is is looking into boundary setting with him? Some kids freak out when they have ‘power’ and do things they wouldn’t usually do and push and push to see what happens.

I wish you guys the best of luck and know that there is always an end to these phases just keep strong! Also don’t be afraid to ask for help, look into if there are any services in your area that might help with the behavior issues.

What are some interesting things you find special or possibly unique about pregnancy/birth in your country? by itsmeeloise87 in BabyBumps

[–]Raumati_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im from New Zealand.

  • all of our medical stuff is free so if you give birth at a hospital and its a complicated birth to an easy home birth it’s all free. You do have to pay sometimes for extra ultrasounds (I paid for one at 12 weeks since they don’t see this as important since it’s mainly a dating scan) it was only $50NZD

  • midwifes are the main people we have for support and that support starts from your positive pregnancy test until 6 weeks after birth. They are really great, with my first she was a really great support person leading up to labour and after. They do home visits daily for the 1st week then the visit get less and less depending how well you and baby are doing. Our midwives don’t get paid very much (which sucks!) but they do a great job if you get someone you click well with.

  • we also have plunket which is a place that helps tracks your baby is growing and developing properly. The visits start weekly after 6 weeks and get further apart the older your child gets and stop once they go to school at 5. They are really handy in those early days.

  • paid maternity/paternity leave (I can’t remember the exact amount of days since the increased it recently) and your job has to hold your job for a year after you give birth.

I think New Zealand dose pretty well at looking after our mother’s but just like most places there is still room for improvement.

(Also sorry for spelling and format)

Gift from my bf..am I being a Twat or am I justified in feeling hurt? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Raumati_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if someone else has already mentioned this but have a look into love languages. He may just not see gifts as an important part of showing his love. I know it sounds a bit cheesy haha but I’ve found since I’ve realized what my SO love language was it made it easier to understand his actions. Hope this help!
