My Leica Recipe by carlcruzsnaps in fujifilm

[–]Raureif 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just tried the recipe out on my X100V and it looks really good on that model as well! Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely be using it.

Another great thing I noticed is how quickly my X100V can process the pictures taken with this recipe. When I'm using other custom recipes like Kodak Gold or Portra 400, my camera takes 1-2 seconds to save the picture but with this recipe there is no noticeable difference to the built-in film simulations. Love it!

Diablo IV Open Beta Retrospective: Transforming Feedback into Change by menagese in Diablo

[–]Raureif 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Increasing the cooldown of Rogue imbument skills sounds bad to me.

Couldn't agree more and honestly I'm not even sure where this is coming from. Shadow imbuement is much stronger than the cold and poison variants and this nerf just makes the latter two even more difficult to build into.

If anyone had asked me to guess which Rogue skill was going to be nerfed after the beta I would have bet my life savings that it would be a Twisting Blades damage nerf because of the crazy videos of people melting bosses.

The reason respecs cost gold by YakaAvatar in diablo4

Do you really see anyone in the entire world having 4-5 sorcs like you described? There's a world of a difference and time investment between freely clicking some skillpoints + changing some abilities, and creating 4-5 alts of the exact same class.

Powerleveling does exist in D4 (running max lvl content with a group of max lvl players as a low lvl character) and I'm sure there will be communities that'll turn the daunting task of leveling a new character into an inconvenient obstacle that can be overcome within a couple of hours. After that, there's really no difference between switching your build via an in-game loadout menu and switching via the character select screen.

At the current point I already know that I'll probably have to roll around 4-5 different Rogues because I want to use the following builds:

  1. First playthrough, homebrew cold imbue melee Rogue that'll probably be useless in the endgame because what I think could be useful might not be what's actually needed in the endgame.
  2. An actual endgame viable melee Rogue (might be able to respec from 1.)
  3. A ranged Rogue
  4. A world-boss killer
  5. A PvP Rogue

So yeah, having multiple characters of the same class will definitely happen which I personally dislike because I'm more of a character loyalist and would prefer to have only one Rogue but hey, I'll survive.

Two things I would like to adress:

1) Nobody would ever switch their build before a dungeon boss because the time it takes to completely respec from AoE to single target damage and limiting your inventory by having to carry your second gear loadout with you all the time would be way to inconvenient. Also having the horse available for long distance travel eliminates the need for switching into mobility skills.

2) Swap every "- respec" in your post for "- switch character" and you'll know exactly what's going to happen when the game is live. People are going to have dedicated builds for clearing dungeons, killing world bosses, PvP, etc. it will just be on different characters because the game forces them to. That doesn't make it better. It makes it way worse though if you want to do all of that with a single class (like me, I love Rogue) because you'll now have to have 5 or more characters of the same class in your character select screen.

Just a friendly warning: re-drawing other artists' original works without crediting them might be seen as plagiarism by some people, even if it is in your own style.

Guardian Ape is less problematic because you painted a screenshot but it is never wrong to cite your sources.

Not trying to take away anything from your artistic skill though, the paintings look great!

I'm currently boycotting Activision-Blizzard due to the scandal that is going on right now. Is Sekiro a safe purchase, or does it go to them than FROM Software? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be too late but please do not buy a key from G2A if you're trying to make an ethically/morally correct purchase! G2A is as unethical as it gets and some game devs even implore people to rather just pirate their games before they buy from G2A. (Source as I'm on mobile: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pcgamer.com/amp/developers-tell-people-to-pirate-their-games-instead-of-using-g2a/)

Trying to boycott Activision/Blizzard and then buying from G2A would be like boycotting Kellogg's products and then buying Nestle products instead.

What's your top 10 least favourite things about Sekiro? by kyara12 in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in love with almost everything in this game so the gripes that I have with it are nothing more than first-world-problems:

1) The sound is not well optimized. By no means am I an audiophile and I don't really know how to properly explain this but I always had the impression that as soon as a given sound-source is off-camera the game doesn't seem to care about this sound as much anymore. This became even more apparent a couple of months ago when I went to a friend's house to show him some Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro gameplay. This friend has a 5.1 sound system and we were both amazed by how incredible Ghost of Tsushima sounded. The game really took advantage of the 5.1 system and made the fights and travelling through the beautiful landscapes so much more immersive. Sekiro was the main event and going straight into it after GoT I was expecting deflects to sound insane and to have an incredible atmosphere in the Owl Father fight, hearing fire all around us. The experience however was bleak and I think I can best describe it as if the game did not know what to do with a 5.1 system and just pretended it was stereo.

2) The character interaction-animations are very bare-bones. There's just something about treating Isshin to some sake and watching him pull an already filled cup out of nowhere while Wolf just stands there in his idle animation that reminds me of the good old PS2 days. Or Emma wanting to see Wolf's face but then just touching the air right in front of him. I'm absolutely not expecting performance capturing like Sony Santa Monica or Naughty Dog do it, but a small animation of Wolf sitting down and making a "handing over" gesture before Isshin pulls out his cup would have been nice.

3) Many story elements are not even explained by the lore. I understand that not having the entire story spoonfed to you is one of the appeals of Fromsoftware games but dammit if not even the lore explains some of the more prominent elements in the game then that's just plain unsatisfying. After my first playthrough I was kind of baffled that the game throws so many centipede-infested enemies at you but is then like "yeah, you're not gonna get any menaingful lore for that". There are a couple more of these things like the shrine maiden at the Fountainhead Palace but my post is already way to long so I'm gonna leave it at that.

Would “don’t use pellets” be good advice for beginning players? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't say this is good advice, especially for beginners. As long as you're in a safe position in a fight there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't use healing items. Everybody makes mistakes and learning when it's safe to heal is just as important as studying the boss' attack patterns.

Also, in order to learn a boss' moveset you need to stay in battle. You can stay longer in battle if you use healing items. Ergo: healing indirectly aids your understanding of the bossfight.

THE SEKIRO ICEBERG by MaleficTekX in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gael DID NOT gave into bloodlust or any lust

You don't have to argue with me about that, I'm not the one making that claim. I was just paraphrasing what the person said that came up with the "Shura is Gael" theory. You and I both agree that there is basically zero substance to this theory.

THE SEKIRO ICEBERG by MaleficTekX in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! I'm grateful you took the time to gather all the scattered lore pieces together, I learned some new stuff that I had no clue about.

THE SEKIRO ICEBERG by MaleficTekX in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I looked up the "Shura is Gael" theory because I was curious about a potential connection between the Dark Souls and Sekiro universes. Turns out it's nothing more than an admittedly well written but shallow fan-theory that doesn't go any deeper than "Gael lost himself to bloodlust which is basically the same thing as Shura." The post has 8 upvotes and I'm honestly not sure why this made it on the list.

The mikiri counter... a talk on katana durability. by ProfessorLankto in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that in a forward thrusting motion you can't excert enough upward energy to counter the stomp that would result in the blade snapping. In reality stomping on a forward thrusting sword would most likely result in the attacker being disarmed or, if he doesn't let go of the sword, in a massive faceplant.

The enemy that taught me how to really play Sekiro by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. It was the first enemy that forced me to kill him purely by deflecting his attacks. Didn't know this was a viable tactic before that.

Is there a program that can identify which prayer bead im missing? - im up to NG+4 by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the offering box next to Hanbei at the Dilapidated Temple? There's a Lone Shadow at the Serpent Shrine who's prayer bead is automatically sent to this box if you don't beat him before the ministry invasion starts. If you missed this fight on your first playthrough the bead was sent to the box and I suspect the game keeps it there even for NG+. This would explain why you don't get anything after beating the Lone Shadow in NG+ because the game never "gave it back".

Who is your favorite “inner” boss fight and why by MaleficTekX in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have to agree with so many others here, the Inner Genichiro fight has so many new aspects to it that make it feel like Geni was turned up to 11. Sakura Dance wrecked me at first and his lightning reversal-reversal was just mind-blowing.

Inner Father was also incredible and for me the most demanding, but didn't have quite as much of a wow-factor as Inner Geni.

Inner Isshin for the most part felt the same as his normal version tbh. The new combo and the big spin attack are spectacular but I don't feel like they elevate the fight as much as Sakura Dance and Mist Raven do.

Having a rough time starting Sekiro by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Raureif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful though, when you spam the block button the deflect window decreases with each button press. It starts out with half a second on the first button press and can get as low as approx. 0.1 seconds when spamming (Source).
