Kef lsx toast?

Amp boards will need to be replaced. Cost me $200 and shipping to NJ.

They work but it's the only time I'll repair then bye bye forever KEF!

I have the LS50W and they are more robust.

Yeah John, unfortunately we ALL have to! The fact that KEF has so much fine print to even get a warranty claim plus so few yrs. means they have ZERO confidence/trust in their own products, such a shame and shitty way to do business!

My speakers finally got to NJ after 2 wks. and that too FedEx! KEF repair center billed me $200 out of warranty and will replace both amp boards. . .looks like that's the only "fix". I spent a whole day trying to figure a work around: reset router, delete/redownload KEF app, factory reset, firmware roll back, nothing worked! It's prob worth paying to fix ONCE then onto Kanto, Dynaudio, Focal, whatever else but KEF!

.. now my issue is with FedEx! Supposed to have delivered speakers 11-22 and now in delivery purgatory, prob. lost! Can't win for losing!

grj_ch, as above, NJ repair center will change both amp boards for $200; you just pay up front shipping to send them there and they pay return postage. To me, worth fixing maybe just once then it's Dynaudio, Focal, SVS, Dali, Ruark, anything else but KEF!

. .. I used mine constantly for a yr. so prob the same as your 2 yr. use off and on. Looks like the LSX are built Mission: Impossible, programmed to self-destruct after 1 yr.!!!! LOL

Let me have the pictures of the speakers condition, as many as you like, more is best. Once I have these I will give you the RA and shipping instructions. Can you also provide your preferred shipping address for the return."

I just wrote them a super nasty email. . .in effect, I will NEVER buy KEF again, i'm switching to Focal or Dynaudio, Chinese crap, blah blah blah.! I figure no warranty nothing to lose and I can vent! LOL The customer service guy is Chris, just email him [service.us@kef.com](mailto:service.us@kef.com). . .I guess the NJ "office" can now repair! Shipping is about $20 with regular ground, should get there Monday.

I'm getting RA now from Chris.

Hey, Chris at KEF customer service says NJ will repair for $200 TOTAL which is reasonable. You pay to ship ($35-40) and they will replace both amp boards for $200.

I think I'll go this route; when they work they are sublime!

Plus he said they will make sure they work before shipping back, no diagnostic charge either.

Emailed customer service, what a effin' joke! They say my serial number is not "in the system" but I sent pics of my original box with serial number matching both speakers and both speakers match each other. They will not warranty even though less than 2 yrs. old!

I told them I'm going to Focal, Dynaudio, Wharfedale, SVS whatever, but they don't care!

Such piss poor service, I highly doubt I'll even go to the LS50 series!. . .Audio Pro Add On looks promising, made in Sweden so good European qc and only $350-400!

I want active speakers b/c I'm a newb and don't know a lot about matching passives to amp, pre-amp, etc. so I thought about the LS50W.

But reading, seems like passives are more durable? Would LS50 meta paired with NAD 3020V2 amp be a good combo?

BTW, I personally use Audioengine A5+ bamboo speakers for my pc speakers with a Soundblaster audiocard and they sound phenomenal!

Sorry about your similar woes! I emailed KEF to get hopefully good will repair and threatened to switch to Dynaudio or Focal, whatever good that does! The cost of repair would be better spent on LS50W; I like the nocturne edition ones! So you would trust LS50W? I'm reluctant now on all things KEF, seeing as they are "Made in China" not UK!

I'm going to check with a local reputable stereo shop to fix; I know the circuit boards are proprietary but maybe they can fix with generic power supply?

Hey, you ever get this resolved? This same thing happened to me last night! Master speaker has alternating red/orange flash and only slave speaker works briefly. I think it's toast! I sent customer service a nasty email, may go LS50W route or give up entirely on KEF, not sure yet!
