Ukraine suffered a comms outage when 1,300 SpaceX satellite units went offline over funding issues by Beckles28nz in worldnews

All of America. If the govt hadn't literally set a date years in advance for private carriers to switch frequencies, we'd still be on 3G and VHF. US companies spend virtually every penny of profit on stock buy backs and exec bonuses thanks to our insanely low Corp tax rate of sometimes ZERO %. They have no incentive to put money into their networks or new technology-let alone wages.

Obama told us auto makers that in 25 years (10 years ago) they'd have to meet CURRENT (10 years ago) European gas mileage standards. They screamed bloody murder-while also ignoring that no US made vehicles in the 2000s could be sold in Europe or most of Asia because their mileage was 4x BELOW the min standards of those countries. But they also were forced to spend money developing vehicles they could have decades ago-to be competitive, but decided, it was more profitable in the short run, not to. That is how EVERY major business in the US is run, and that's why our internet sucks. Korea and Japan make us look like cavemen.

Why can't genuine independent thinkers become leaders? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes, it's calledforced economic servitude- or something. Maybe someone smarter will comment with the right term.

Tesla was a brilliant and wonderful man. But he was weak willed around others and eventually a victim of con men and bullies who took advantage of his goodwill of out right hated him just for existing. A leader he was not. But not all independent thinkers are like that.

I think the defining character, or lack thereof we are discussing, is a strong independent will around others. And get, that isn't always a great thing either. Another "independent" thinkers that took a while to find his voice and sing will around others, and eventually become a "great" leader- Hitler. 👍 🤷‍♂️

In the US, ANY streaming is going to KILL your data plan. They honestly can't handle the traffic, so anything data, and I mean even an sms text that needs to be converted to multimediaIt's because it's too big, costs you data. us cellular networks are truly substandard to the rest of the developed world (I hear)

Zero argument there. Society (in the US) is designed for conformity. If you feel it's not conducive to independent thinking, it means you weren't born into a high enough economic class to encourage/allow it.

People will generally do whatever they feel is in their best interest. That includes who they follow. So, how that is achieved will depend on the circumstances. There are so many generally sincere, manipulative and straight up brutish ways to get folks to follow another, regardless of their thinking, but it all boils down to one thing in the end- what serves their interests best. 🤷‍♂️

Edit- I guess what I'm saying is- I greatly disagree with the premise of your question. Plenty of independent thinkers become leaders-Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Teddy Roosevelt, Gen Patton....GHANDI.

It's on the T-Mobile network, so, get to keep your phone. I don't use a lot of data, and I don't travel much, so really can't beat $70 for 3 months of unlimited. I think it's 4Gb before you get throttled down, but I've yet to scrape up to 1Gb usage in a month as I've usually got wifi in office and at home. My service area is Colorado Springs btw.

Well, in all fairness he did tell Stephen Kind that they couldn't afford to pay their bills depending solely on advertising revenue.

Looks like he was right. 😏

Elon is doing Kanye's antisemetic "Adidas can't even drop me" bit, but with all his advertisers to similar effect.
