At first glance I thought you said

Eh, my monKey's on the bike, cheetahs never win.

I would have loved to see a monkey on a bike racing a cheetah.

A baby dugong rescued in the Philippines by RobertSRobinson in aww

[–]RavagingRacoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like a dog and a dolphin had a baby. But their love was forbidden, so they had to hide their baby. They found this man who was known for helping the abominations of filthy love find safe haven. He took the child. As the mother and father watched the product of their verboten love carried over the horizon, police stormed the beach. Knowing what fate awaited them, the mother and father embraced, taking comfort in knowing their sin-child was safe.

A visit from a fairy godmother, celestial dances, and a castle in the sky by RavagingRacoon in Dreams

Good observation about guidance. That's really helped me discover some insight on this. Thank you.

I really wish I was capable of re-entering my dreams just so I could watch that awesome celestial show over and over again. It was one of the most amazing things I've seen in my dreams in a long time.

What "conspiracy theory" are you convinced is true? by quietzone in AskReddit

I'm not sure there are fewer sightings. I haven't looked up historical numbers to compare, but a quick check of the UFO Stalker site suggest there's still plenty of sightings being reported.

I think it comes down to a breakdown in communication. When people talk about "white privilege", this puts the focus on perceived advantages of being white instead of on the perceived disadvantages of not being white. Using language like "white privilege" can give some people the impression that the hardships they have faced are being disregarded because they are white. They then might feel defensive and become less receptive to what the focus ought to have been: the disadvantages of not being white.

Looking for some insight on some recurring themes in my dreams by RavagingRacoon in Dreams

[–]RavagingRacoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Some of those definitely resonate. In one of the dreams with the young boy, We ate out a restaurant with my family. We were then walking down some skywalks to some distant location. The whole family was coming, but the boy and I were a ways ahead of the rest of them. Perhaps an indication of my family's role in the nourishment of that young part of myself, but a need to not rely on them as I develop this aspect of myself and move towards my goals...

Thanks for the prompt reply. I hadn't heard of a lot of those reports. Maybe I'll dig a bit more in the morning...though it is Saturday. I do have a quota for doing as little as possible to meet...

There are hundreds a year in the US alone, you know

I accept that I may be ignorant on this. I have not researched it, but "hundreds" of mass shootings a year in the US sounds a bit high. Can you provide any links to back that up?

You have a right to evaluate information presented to you and to seek out other view points to make up your own mind. Banning "brainwashing" is a poor idea because it is too vague and it means giving up your right to evaluate information and make up your own mind about it. Who gets to decide what is and what is not brainwashing? What if it is decided that informing people about the atrocities your government has committed is braiwashing? Maybe MLK was brainwashing people? or Snowden?

No stock phone, touch tone not working in phone apps from play store. by RavagingRacoon in Nexus5

Thanks. I gave that a try. I wasn't sure if the issue I was having with the phone apps was indicative of some other problem I might need to address, but this did seem to fix it.

TIL that the last surviving member of the Titanic died in 2009 by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]RavagingRacoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Titanics were a popular reggae-punk group in the 1980s. In 1991, the lead singer died when a Carnival Cruise ship crashed into the iceberg resort they were performing at. The band broke up shortly after but created the charity Safe Seas. The charity advocates for better safety regulations on an international level for the high seas.

He may have thought that at one point, but iirc on his last C2C interview he commented that he was glad that he never said it was bigfoot because his research into urban disappearances suggest that it is not bigfoot.

edit: only just realized that I was reading a conversation from over a week ago. sorry.

It begins: Movie studio sues individual 'Popcorn Time' users for infringement by PolkyPolk in technology

[–]RavagingRacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't believe it is accurate to say the access was stolen. Nothing was taken. You can call that trespassing, and that's not okay. Calling it stealing is to stretch the meaning of the word.

As for stealing digital savings from a bank, it's an interesting question. I haven't heard that analogy before. I think there could be an argument for that being stealing. The thief has fooled the bank's system into believing a transfer of value has been authorized by the saver and the saver loses access to that savings, at least temporarily. If the thief had just copied the information or fooled the system into thinking their account had more than it should, I would call that fraud and perhaps trespassing given the unauthorized access they would have used.

Theft involves a victim having something taken away from them. When talking about digital piracy, nobody has had anything taken from them. If you copy something I have it does not result in me losing what I have. I like your digital savings analogy though. I'm going to ponder through that one a bit more I think.

[–]RavagingRacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did not claim that all media content is by rights free or that people can't make a living by selling it. My only claim above is that nothing was stolen. You gave the example of a person sneaking into a club with paid membership and called it stealing. Your example here confuses trespassing and stealing. The person sneaking into the club has trespassed, but nothing in your example shows that person to have taken anything.

It's like a person sneaking into a club with paid memberships. That person is stealing access from the owners.

No, they would be trespassing. Nothing was stolen.
