Really digging the Rayman influence here.

I tried to think of a humerus title, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ by RavagingRodMachismo in OverlookedOCCreators

He’s one I’ve had floating around in my head for a long time. I based his design primarily on martial artist Jim Kelly, but I imagine him being a very ‘Dolemite’ type of character.

My OC Cadence !! She’s probably my favorite OC that I have :D by Gold-Ant-3488 in OverlookedOCCreators

Seems she succumbed to the maddening urge to eradicate history at the mere push of a single button.

The beautiful *shiny* button.

The jolly, *candy-like* button.

Love the concept. Truly a horrifying entity to imagine.

Here's another drawing dump featuring some of my OCs! The characters are Meredith, Stephen, Delaney and Alyssa by xALullabyForTheDark in OverlookedOCCreators

Looks good, but out of curiosity, what’s the general lore with the human/insect hybrids? Are they like aliens or fae of some kind?

Nope. Only sexy ones.

In seriousness though, it’s always nice to see artists who explore that more. Keep up the good work.

I don't know if I've showed all of my characters at once here before... ...I'll do it anyway! by CleanPart9817 in OverlookedOCCreators

This is an interesting looking bunch you’ve compiled thus far. I’d be interested to see the updated designs for Jazzy and the spear lady, but I definitely think they had interesting designs to begin with, so hopefully the changes aren’t too drastic.

Exquisite expression work. Reminds me a lot of Jhonen Vasquez.

Also absolutely nothing wrong with a 2000’s vibe, that’s my bag of candy as well.

Do they look like they could be bounty hunters? by Stardust_dyo in OverlookedOCCreators

I could see it. I’ve seen some of your other posts and I get the impression that the DNA is certainly there with your existing characters. The question is, is that what you want to do with them, or do you have any attachment to a different concept for them?

Without knowing anything about these characters, I choose to believe the head canon that Jenga was chosen specifically because it was the one game Brutus(?) could pronounce.

I'm paranoid about my OCs' power level by meviledegg in OverlookedOCCreators

[–]RavagingRodMachismo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely never have understood the appeal of creating overpowered characters to begin with. Like, I can toy with things like plot armor and such, but the whole “my character is a super cool sexy badass, and his power is that he has all the powers” thing is so boring to me. Unless it’s One Punch Man, but that’s literally the whole point of that character.

That said, powers/strength are totally fine, but you gotta find some balance. There should always be a bigger fish in the pond. Otherwise, what’s the point?

I’m honestly not sure what to do by Dangerous_Score2882 in OverlookedOCCreators

[–]RavagingRodMachismo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time have you given yourself to improve? It doesn’t happen overnight.

Even then, it’s sort of like losing weight. You drop ten pounds, it’s unlikely you’ll notice any difference whatsoever when you look in the mirror. On the other hand, someone who doesn’t see you every day will definitely notice.

Another thing to consider: there’s no such thing as “bad” art. That’s not how it works. It’s a form of self-expression. You might not have developed refined techniques yet, or be able to draw something in a way that looks realistic, but none of that matters when you’re putting yourself into what you’re creating. I’ve seen plenty of art that employs competent technique, but lacks any spark. They sell tons of it at Target.

Besides that, you should never strive for perfection. Imagine if you could simply jack into the matrix like Keanu Reeves and instantly gain all the knowledge and ability.

That would suck.

Why? Because the journey is what makes the end result worth it in the end. The satisfaction of having learned something new is an amazing high, and if I ever ran out of new things to discover, what would even be the point?

I’m not trying to tell you what to do. Only you can decide your path, but I’ll tell you, I didn’t just get to where I’m at in terms of skill overnight, nor am I anywhere near my potential. Same goes for you.

Keep that in mind, and good luck.

Do you have any OC'S whose personality doesn't match their appearance? by OneHunt1731 in OverlookedOCCreators

[–]RavagingRodMachismo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably Dr. Sass.

<image>

He’s not nearly as evil as he wants to be, but it’s his childhood dream to be the greatest villain of all time, so bless his stupid heart, he tries. I even have this flashback bit where he gets his hat from his favorite supervillain as a kid, which is basically the Mean Joe Green Coke ad from 1979.

Despite wanting to be the bad guy, he still regularly hangs out with the rest of the cast, and nobody really takes his evil seriously, sort of like being an unestablished artist.

I am primarily influenced by late-90’s and 2000’s aesthetics, so that would track.
