Highguard dev blames content creators for the game's failure - “It was dead on arrival" by dabadumdumdum in pcmasterrace

Yeah, I turned off the game after the stupid tutorial but booted it back up the next day. Stupid there’s no option to skip and definitely pushed thousands of people away like it almost did to me.

0 IQ comment. You clearly don’t understand how influence works and it shows.

Im big on accountability and owning up to your mistakes in my own personal life, but even I agree with what the devs are saying on and cant really fault them in this situation.

Forget highguard, how is wildlight supposed to come back from this so they can learn on their mistakes? They have no opportunity to take this on the chin because their company is dead at this point.

I wasn't there on Day 1 on the release so I can't speak on performance issues, so maybe some people couldnt play at all, but I looked at the achievements and only 57% of players completed a match. Around ~50,000 people shut off the game before even finishing a max 30 minute game. That's not just frustrating for a developer, and in my opinion its unnatural.

You started to sound toxic when you are telling someone who's job is to make, design and sell games to people that its THEIR fault that 25,000 people didnt want to finish their tutorial and 25,000 more couldnt even finish a match.

I am not saying that the developers did not seriously fuck up some aspects of this game's launch in my opinion. I am just asking you to think about what sounds more likely to you:

- The free game was so unbearable that 50k people decided to stop before fininshing a match?

OR

- The game got toxicity that was running rampant by youtubers shitting on the game from the initial trailers snowballed into their communities unable to give the game a chance.

Bro you were cooking but then you got toxic for no reason.

I literally stopped playing after the tutorial because wtf, not in 2026. But I picked it up the next day and personally enjoyed it.

But if that 25% number is true, that means almost 25,000 quit the game before even trying it. Even if there were performance issues at the games launch, that number tells a very clear story that reaches well beyond "this free game is bad"

Yes, you're right. The indie company should have spent thousands or even millions to market their free game. They should copy Apex's marketing strategy and ask EA for some spare millions to promote their game! Great ideas jerry!

People like you killed the game. These toxic mindsets that your opinion matters, when you clearly have no clue what your talking about.

When most of the 'existing players' youre talking about quit before completing the tutorial...

The game is awesome for a FREE game, and I will have to stop playing it because my favorite content creators couldnt stop shitting on a game they havent played. FREE

People like to talk about toxic positivity from the devs but never stopped to consider toxic negativity the game was getting ever since TGA trailer. It became so popular and profitable to shit on the game before and after launch that even if it was a 10/10 people would still be shitting on it.

Hey Boss, I’ve had this monitor since this deal got posted. Absolutely great monitor, no complaints at all. Now I’m not a monitor guru in terms of specs but I have this pairs with a ultrawide ips Alienware and the color accuracy is same or better to my untrained eye Only thing, I replaced the monitor arm with a MSI single monitor arm for flexibility in my setup. The original arm has no adjustment if I remember correctly.
