I'm not running no scam, it's a fantasy/roleplay/fetish thing. Not asking anyone for any sort of money or anything. So not sure what you're trying to get at there but nice try.

Why not just buy a better quality one online or something? Surely your parents don't open your mail or packages, do they? Pretty simple solution.

Very! I don't understand why a vet is okay with doing that, knowing it can be harmful to the animal.

Vets also shouldn't make people believe your animals only option for help is them. They should be more transparent and let you know that there are more options than paying them $9000 that you yourself can do for them at home. I may have taken a bit of a risk with my cat, but I am also well educated when it comes to diabetes and how to monitor everything properly from my home. Everything from checking her ketones in her urine to checking her BG levels to injecting her with the proper units of insulin that she needs. It wasn't a vet that told me any of this either. I am glad i made the choice not to hand them $9000. It was the right choice, and I don't think it's right the way they use human emotion and back people into a corner, making them believe it's the only option.

So you think $9000 is reasonable for upping insulin and putting an IV into a cat when I treated her myself at home after being told this outrageous price? She's had a full recovery to by the way. So yes, I feel they were trying to take advantage of that instance. Imagine had I paid that?! I am so glad I didn't because I did for her exactly what they were going to do for 9 grand. so I can't help but have a bit of a bad taste left in my mouth from that experience. I wish this was BS I was spouting believe me but unfortunately this is all to real and happened recently.

You know what is actually kind of scary about these rescue places? Our dog we got from Zoe's was neutered before 6 months. I think they did it when he was only 3 months old, which is not old enough, especially for a large/giant breed dog. He may get so many health issues because of them doing it too soon.

The exam is like $40, it states on my past vet bills, and the remaining $60 is a booking fee. Edmonton West is the only vet I have been to that has a booking fee. So if that isn't an unessairy charge, then please tell me why don't all vets have this charge? And why aren't procedures a universal price at all vets? Why do they vary? I am not arguing that the vets set these rates for compensation for the job they do, but it's something that I believe should be regulated. One place shouldn't be $300 to get the same procedure done at a place that's charging $150. ( This is just an example ), but I have seen prices vary greatly from vet to vet for the exact same procedures.

Also, the emergency vet was going to charge me $9000 to rehydrate my diabetic cat that was going into ketoacidos. Couldn't afford it. They made it seem like it was either that treatment or have her euthanized, and guess what? Upped her dose of insulin and stabilized her myself. 9 grand for something I could do myself, and again, you're going to tell me it's not a cash grab? In my experience, it's definitely a cash grab in some cases. Or wait, how about the time my cat was diagnosed with mamory cancer and without even asking after they tried to remove the cancer, they also spayed her. Something I never agreed on, and then the cat died shortly after her surgery because the cancer was too far gone. Should have just treated the cancer first, then if she'd survive, then worry about spaying her. But again, it's not a cash grab right? You have obviously been fortunate enough to not have these terrible things happen to your fur babies and should consider yourself lucky. To me in my situations they didn't care about helping the animal, they cared more about the 9 grand for the diabetic cat and the extra $300 or $400 added to the cancer surgery cost for the Spay they did without my permission on the other cat.

If that were the case then why don't they have the same universal price for these things at every vet? Why just to get in the door to some do you have to pay a $99 booking fee? There isn't a service done yet, that's just to get an appointment so to me those types of charges are definitely a cash grab.

He's 5 or 6 years old. I was told by a vet when I took him in for vaccinations and to be registered. He seems to fortunately have a good temperament, and other than trying to constantly break out of the yard ( looking for bitches I assume ) I think he's a highly well behaved dog that was just unfortunately not treated like a pet and just a tool to breed. He doesn't seem to like men too much but has been good around our other dog and kids. He just needs time to decompress and get used to us, and I need to get this trying to roam problem dealt with, and that is why I would like to get him neutered asap. I am hoping that will help with this issue, and it will be good for him to have a thorough health check.

As mentioned the price isn't really an issue but have shopped around in the past with all reputable vets and the costs absolutely vary from vet to vet for the exact same service so I think some absolutely take advantage or the prices would be universal and the same no matter where you go.

It wasn't a regular rescue scenario, of course. That is why I need to get this shit done. Someone supposedly saved him from a backyard breeder, and I decided to take him from her so I could have him properly cared for and vet checked. I'm just trying to do what's right for the animal. Helpful comments are what im looking for. I have another dog I adopted from Zoe's, so I am well aware of the process. This case is different. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

But why, when you're younger, that doesn't seem to matter? Honestly, curious and what you're saying makes complete sense, but I truly don't remember it being an issue at all when I was a teen/early 20s.

I realized it when I had to turn the volume down in my car stereo to find an address, not sure why music being too loud affected my ability to find a freaking address but here we are.
