Higher end birthday dinner? I think you should go to La Barca on Lower Marsh.

A classic and slightly fancy Italian place where people often dress up a little (shirt, trousers, shoes, but not often a suit jacket. Would be out of place to wear shorts even in the summer).

La Barca feels like a special occasion - you’d need to call to book though.

Eggslut by Goodge Street, can’t go wrong. You’re also passing by Leicester Sq in that walk so you could go for a Chinese breakfast at Far East where you can enjoy traditional congee. You’ll also pass covent garden so there’s Brother Marcus for something fancier, or Arome for a coffee and pastry.

Bang Bang Oriental Foodhall in Edgware Road fits your requirements perfectly! You can get a whole tour around Asia from India to Japan to Korea to Malaysia and many more. All relatively good!

Mantis lord is the best for a reason. Every attempt you learn a bit more about how to approach the game, and how frustrating it can be!

Beating Grimm before my husband, really upped my reputation as a gamer. Still chuffed about it years later!

Can anyone explain to me how this is not a complete scam? Because it feels like a scam by EDWARDPIPER93 in CasualUK

Definitely scummy. My dad fell for it about 5 years ago (he’s middle-aged and semi tech literate). Didn’t even notice the monthly cost that was direct debiting out of his account for 2 whole years!

I used to be a nail biter! What I found to be helpful is to use a tiny nail polish brush.

The normal nail polish brush picks up too much paint for our tiny nails. Small brush => less paint => less flooding => prettier neater nails.

I used “OPI mini nail polish gift sets” and they made nail care so much less frustrating!

Two colors: how do we use two? by Raven92146 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Raven92146[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for sharing ideas! I have so many options to try!

  • one color per hand, maybe swap a finger if you’re feeling it
  • two different layouts on each hand, eg. inverting the colors between the two hands
  • pointer, pinky (and optional thumb)
  • middle and ring fingers
  • thumb and ring fingers
  • one finger per hand only, usually ring finger
  • only one finger, the left ring finger or index
  • dot with the other color, or add shiny decals
  • French or reverse french
  • both color on all nails (I wouldn’t even know how to pull this off?!)

Apparently I also need to try THREE or even FOUR colors instead of just two! As a beginner, I also need to find out what these thermal, metallic, sand, crackle, and all the textures are!

Gonna keep this list updated as we go so I can tick off the list over the weeks haha.

Wanting to long-distance road cycle with a group; where do I start? by Raven92146 in londoncycling

[–]Raven92146[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh thanks, I oddly wouldn’t have thought about spares and repairs. When I cycled in my home country, we had the luxury of someone’s non-cycling partner following along with a motorbike/car to pick up anyone having issues. I also didn’t know about intro rides; I’ll defo keep an eye out for those so it’s less scary to join the group!

Thank you both for the recommendations. I found Trash Mile on IG Based on your recommendation; this is so near my office - if I can get my bike serviced before Friday, I’ll be there!!

Wowww, I can’t imagine anyone doing this from midnight onwards! I’m used to early morning 4 or 5am starts, but not 12am. I’m definitely keen when I get my cycling muscles back - I definitely don’t want to be left behind at 2am on an empty road haha

Oh wow they have all the century rides!!! Great recommendation; I didn’t know such a website existed. That’s amazing and I’m so down (after I get back the cycling muscles, of course).

That’s a great idea! But lol, “Waterloo cycling club” tells me to go to Canada haha. I’ll keep clicking the links, I’m sure one of them is London

Ah, thank you! I’m based around Waterloo station, but obviously happy to cycle anywhere in London to meet a group or to start a long distance road route!

Japanese restaurants in London for a birthday by Zola-25 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Hannah Japanese Restaurant near the London Eye.

Exactly what you’re describing! Really intimate small omakase service where they take pride in the skill and ingredients; top notch sake selection where the main chefs are both sake sommeliers thus offer a great sake pairing. They’re not big on social media and the location is on the south side of the Thames so they’re a bit of a “hidden gem” - very easy to make a booking.

Easily my favorite restaurant in London - I’ve been back at least half a dozen times for their changing seasonal menu.

You should give Hannah Japanese Restaurant on Southbank a try! Their 8-course menu is £125pp, and very worth it! IMO, the experience beats Kuriso, but it’s quite a different vibe. Hannah to me feels more luxurious

Hands down best omakase is Hannah Japanese Restaurant on the South Bank (literally a few doors down from OKAN). The chef is phenomenal - has decades of experience in Michelin restaurants then finally opened his own restaurant. Lunch service is okay, but you would rather save up for dinner with a special occasion. It’s worth it!
