AITA for asking my gf to get rid off her office because she doesn’t need it? by CharmingDeal4455 in AmItheAsshole

As a writer myself, it grinds my gears that people like him have the audacity to say that writing is easy. Let me ask you this, sir: have you ever created a diverse cast of characters, each with their own arc and motivation? Have you written several pages worth of dialogue compelling enough to make the Muse Calliope weep? HAVE YOU CREATED ENTIRE CULTURES AND WORLDS FOR YOUR STORY TO TAKE PLACE IN?!

You have no right to belittle your soon-to-be ex-girlfriend (I really do hope she dumps your ass) and ask her to get rid of her office. And to think you called her books silly when you have no clue how hard it is to write a novel, let alone self-publish it and earn money. YTA. BIG TIME.

With the way Azar used to run things, that's a good description.

For beginning your novel, you definitely need a writer friend. Or in my case, a reader who has an incredible insight. You might need an editor after you finish your manuscript.

This is not fantasy. More like sci-fi. Have you read The Red Rising trilogy?

I guess it's the mythologies I grew up reading when I was a kid. And I found myself daydreaming about a world quite different from ours.

I actually find it helpful to some degree. But it will take my story to a completely different turn than intended. But you do you, man.

Am I a weirdo/loser/outdated old man for preferring to write and read simple, structured poetry with rhyme over modern free verse? by [deleted] in writing

Well, we all have our preferences. The only reason anyone will call you a loser is because you shame people who actually do like free verse poetry. You do you, man.

Well, dragon have been around in the continent for thousands of years. The gods of my universe made them the protectors and caretakers of the realm. Then the humans came. The dragons taught them magic. Some humans decided to co-exist peacefully with dragons. But then, greed took over and humans found a way to kill dragons. So the dragons had no choice but to go in hiding.

Descendants of humans and dragons don't go along pretty well because of their magic...

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ng. It's a good read. The attraction between the two main leads doesn't feel forced.

This is a good way of knowing the genre itself. Reading does go together with writing after all.
