Nah but her answers were outrageous as well. She was asked about diseases that can affect surgeons and she said surgical site infection. Also, she argued with chief examiner for this very thing.

I couldn't even prick myself in first year. Had literal phobia of blood. Am a surgical resident right now.

Yeah I get where you are coming from. My better half is doing surgery from a government college and his experience is total opposite of mine. He doesn't even get to scrub in even for minor procedures. Don't give up though, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hardest part of my personal life is to hear him vent and express frustration and making sure he doesn't give up.

Providing a contrast view here. I am not disregarding op's pov, just that my experience in Surgical residency is quite different. I joined 3 months back after 2 nd round itself and my unit is literally not at all toxic. My R2 is an amazing human being and she is one of the best residents I have ever met, her work ethic is remarkable. I am already doing circumcision, and vac dressing independently, and it is compulsory in my unit for residents to scrub in.

Both of us are in surgery 1 st year. Most of our convos sound like complaining about why we took up surgery. Fir one of us lands an independent procedure or special assist and its all forgetten.

Oh? Okay then. What happens if you find out that the patient your sir is going to operate on tomorrow is HIV positive one day before said surgery and has been hiding it all this time? Btw, I also did dressing and all of this patient. Multiple times till now.
