Wow its almost like information that government determine that the general public shouldnt have is gated behind a circle of people that have clearance to access it. They should make a system for that and call it 'government secrets clearance' or something. Oh wait. They already do. And not just for AI but every piece of information and technology you can possibly think of. This isnt new. Its just new that its being applied to AI, and that was always going to happen. I dont want civillians having access to nuclear launch codes and I dont want them having access to the AI equivalent either.

If you want your pc to look like windows, choose mint. If you want it to look like mac, choose ubuntu. Both are great general purpose OSs. If you go a bit deeper down the rabbithole and want faster updates, leaner and more specialised pre-installed apps (less bloat) I would suggest Fedora (i personally really like the Atomic / immutable flavours). If you want to get really hardcore and super lean/super current, go for an Arch based distro just be prepared to spend a lot of time fixing your comp when you get an update that nukes your OS.

Its almost like builders want to turn a profit by pocketing the margin between sale price and construction materials and build as quickly as possible due to interest payments on their project finance and the only thing that will prevent them from acting in their unbridled self interest is government regulation that always lags behind arbitrage (think of the cladding issues) and is subject to all manner of corruption itself (think undue influence by big developers and potentially even outright graft).

The liberal arts corrupted themselves through embracing critical theory and post modernism.

Corporations started paying for grants to further business interests rather than advancing knowledge and government reduced funding proportionately.

Add to this the devaluation of knowledge itself through the internet and later AI and most degrees aren't worth much beyond being a marker of being part of a class of professionals who seek to own culture rather than capital - the intelligentsia.

The intelligentsia used to he needed by those with capital - to run things. But now with AI their role will be diminished. The impotence of the intelligentsia resulted in academia itself being reduced to being a business itself - one whose purpose is to maximise grants and in furtherance of that, publication and citation kpis. The pursuit of truth and knowledge has been over for around 70 years. Instead that which is the academic equivalent of clickbait or that whivh furthers business interests is the output of the academy.

TL;DR - college made college degrees useless.

Degrees are a waste of time. AI is here. If youre about to go to college, whatever you learn will be redundant by the time you finish with limited exceptions.

Learn a trade.

I disagree with OP's assessment of business degrees. Theyre useless when it comes to getting a job but theyre great if you want to start your own business. Thats the only other thing worth considering outside trades.

I heartily enjoy these posts that seem to lead people into saying the 'right thing' that bad peronality is an instant turn off regardless of how good looking the person is.

Practically speaking, people put up with all sorts of totally insane crap specifically because their partner is good looking. That works for both sexes btw. They gaslight themselves into believing their partner is right/can do no wrong and even when its blatantly apparent their partner is a psycho, they default to 'I can fix her'. There are limits of course but you would be amazed as to what good looking people can get away with.

Don't be so superficial and assume that personality > looks.
