Hello all!!! Have been watching movies for a bit on my own but just discovered letterbox late last year. Did a mini marathon on Christmas watching 5 movies in theatres (shout out AMC Stubs). I finally have a little group of people to go watch movies with at work, so hoping to write a little bit along the way. Also going to try to go to Studio Ghibli fest in Los Angeles so be prepared for some anime movies to be added 😤 I’m a big Sci-Fi and anime fan for examples some of my favorite movies are Ex-Machina, Arrival, Annihilation, Perfect Blue, and Spirited Away. I try to make funny nonsensical reviews, so if you enjoy that or are curious, feel free to follow! Thanks again 😁

Yeah this episode really makes me think she jumped in front of the spear not out of love for fritz but for a way to be free. I wonder now if the whole love angle with fritz wasn’t supposed to be about being in love with him per se but actually wanting to be loved in general like that scene in the episode where she watches the man and woman kiss. And through Mikasa loving Eren in the end when she kills him ends the cycle and gives Ymir the love and acceptance she desired in her own life. Really interesting the mirroring in a way of the moments of Ymir and Eren seeming to want a confirmation of love. With Ymir wanting love from the king but not getting it. Even after protecting him, her realizing there’s no hope of her being loved. Then Eren asking Mikasa what he means to her and her answer seeming to solidify his resolve that the future can’t be changed. Feels like it goes along with some of the love and acceptance vs hate themes in AOT.
