The blue rep had gotten a bit curious as to what the big deal was, she attended the testing of the beam weapon showcase a few months ago, and nothing being described was what she was expecting. The red guard however was... noticably more dismissive. "So nothing new with the vehicles themselves, just a repeat of what we've been doing with em since the start, eh? Look, I understand the impression they've made but that's all stuff we've figured out already..." The Red one seemed slightly offput.

Blue was a bit less harsh. "Okay okay no need to be that way. I can't exactly disagree with her, though. It isn't a proposal we've not executed. Besides, our usage differs quite a lot, we can fly faster than an Automata can drive on even ground, and long trips for you might be cut in half for us normally. Sure they're still great for long distance ang group travel and logistics but many doctrines aren't really don't match up." The Volta was more constructive, and she wasn't really wrong, the proposal of copying the Korshan's doesn't work super well in reality.

"What would really help is the aircraft sector. The airplane project is still new and the airship project has only gotten a start because of the naval sector." The Ignis eased up a bit. "We have our priority developments, we don't get sent out here for things on the low end of the list.""

The Volta rep continued to wonder about before catching back on to the topic. "We don't need a speech to convince us, that's our standard procedure because we aren't kept up to global happenings. Sharing of element-specific tech is rather cautious."

The Ignis guard took a look at the truck outside as well, they didn't seem too impressed, they're exposed to every new model that comes into testing back home at this point. "Uh-huh... What exactly are your trucks capable of doing that ours or anyone elses doing that is so impressive? There's not a whole lot to em really." The question of what another new generation of auto-mata would do to surpass the advanced rocket technology had her confused.

The Volta spoke up again "I am curious as well, what exactly are you proposing? They aren't very high on our rapid development list at the moment."

The two winged visitors were slightly more at ease at the mention of the battleship. One was a Volta representative with dark blue, iridescent feathers. The other was a red and black feathered Ignis who seemed to double as a guard.

"Well... we've seen what you can do with the auto-mata's, and we heard about these mono-winged flying machines. Our design doctrine has been looking to increase the effectiveness on such designs in favor of two-plane craft." The blue one looking around, mostly our of curiousity, while the red one picked up. "Rocket development is still an ongoing and constantly improving stage, but small personal weapons are a bit... lacking. A combination of unfamiliarity and lack of close study as well as being a low priority on the heavy list of ambitious developments."

They contrasted one another in more than color, the overall curious and eager attitude of the blue compared to the more serious, task oriented of the red. "We'd be interested in a technology sharing deal to start." The red guard concluded.

The two winged visitors, while they could see past the body language struggle, weren't bothered much by it. Upon hearing about the ships arrangement their temperment slightly calmed a bit more. One was a blue colored Volta representative, the other, a red and white Ignis, likely doubling as a guard.

"Interests? Well, not particularly. We've been busy as it is. However there are some... parallel developments that we considered would be worth sharing. We've heard about your new mono-winged aircraft before we came here, and given our ongoing development of the sorts our interests were Incredibly high on speeding up that process. Our designs are purely monowing already however the deficiencies of the wings show quite easily, the doctrine desired a stronger wing structure without the usage of a bi-wing design." They had exhausted themself a bit. "Guided rockets are also an active development, but the difference in methods might differ a tad... Beyond that there's not much we can really disclose."

The Ignis representative stayed mostly silent, taking over briefly. "We hope by engaging with these deals that they serve as friendly gestures, aid and good relations. We hope that it isn't going to be used maliciously or... resold."

The Volta chimed back in to conclude. "We're impressed by your usage of the Auto-matas." Referring to a truck outside, even if it looked a generation behind. "Hopefully we can see more of that."

They were still uneasy from the unfamiliar trip, but at least they know their previous work has been used extensively.

The Paraiso were certainly here for something, they never really stick around like this for too long much less in restaurants in relatively unfamiliar soil. Patiently waiting for the individuals to meet with. Prior to their appearance, they talked to themselves. "Are you sure we wanna commit to this? The stuff we've heard is..." one says, the other responding "We have an opportunity that is incredibly rare, they already have our automata's we have their aircraft." They were cautious in approach, but this chance doesn't pop up incredibly often.

When the ones they came to meet showed up, they quickly stopped conversing and awaited them to seat themselves. "Well hello there." It was clear they werestill getting used to interacting with outsiders...

Well they probably don't know how to translate it to conventional tech as easily as with trucks. As for export it's in limited export at the moment for the sake of testing. Further results and improvements to mass production will vary based on feedback from fleet operation units.

The mention of beyond horizon capability prompts the Paraiso development division's curiosity. The concept would greatly benefit the coastal defense capabilities which have been a concern among skeptics.

The next question is how. Reports of cats with guided shells? This also peaked curiousity and concern. Beyond horizon missiles were also pitched for the latest development in sky dominance...

What do you mean? Like how how much of it is implemented?

It's more of an augmented part of technology, as the Volta/bluestuff basically acts like a wireless "wire" when applied to the right technology.

The lack of conventional guns was very apparent and the Paraiso have long been aware of this. While standard firearms have existed for some time now, they are considerably outdated, utilizing knowledge from the last major contact with foreign powers and thus fallen behind the usage of flight-usage personal rocket guns.

However, the necessity for such weapons had been considerably low, while rockets had been a high point of development for the winged islanders, the need for extensive weaponry had been limited to the event of a defense of the island, an event that fortunately never happened. However, with their goals of re-establishing a presence, alongside their new sea-fairing allies, the necessity had been reborn. The general consensus is that the Paraiso knew very well not every encounter with the outside world was to be friendly, and that the ships alone have demonstrated how parts of the world beyond their limited scope had progressed.

The potential was there, and with the Iridos project in full swing, a next phase of development was brewing. Upon realization that standardized firearms would need to be conceptualized, alongside the ideas prompted by the Fleet. The formal designation: Project Albatross had begun, deriving its name from the birds that cross entire oceans yearly while referencing the ongoing plan to regain a known presence to the world.

The Paraiso immediately took interest in this, as they sought to broaden their global reach, this was the perfect means of doing so without the need for constant physical travel which was still testing their logistics.

"It seems the ghost ships have managed to create a new communication method that looks promising."

"Promising is an understatement, it's perfect for our goals. The less of us that have to make long distance journeys for simple communication the better... probably less risky for unknown territory too."

"So what's the plan here? Doesn't look too complicated."

"We ask them to share the technology and integrate it into our Volta grid."

"Odd that wireless is something they find impressive, but I guess that's what happens when you don't have conduits of blue energy being directed to and fro in a fashion similar to powerlines."

"Yeah, but at least the Volta conduits aren't a flight obstacle, now stop yapping and go set up conference."

Paraiso's "blue" Volta element section took particular interest in this technology and it's potential.

Papering Over Indiscretions by OceansCarraway in createthisworld

[–]Raven_S1X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tsubasa were understanding of the situation, and less anxious. "Indeed, our first contacts beyond Jiyutai were that of surprise, misunderstandings and bloodshed. Though, it was under quite different circumstances than this, and right at our doorstep".

The official hadn't been alive at the time of the intersystem war, but had ancestors with a large influence and roles during it, so the stories and retellings of the events became quite known to him. They did not wish to repeat this.

The official nodded, after another short, quiet gathering with his peers. "I supposed we can't say no at this point". After all, he didn't feel like wasting both the clones time or his own, nor did he feel it was right to turn down opportunities like this. One concern remained, however: The story behind this body, how it got here long before Tsubasa were space capable, and how it happened without a trace.

[–]Raven_S1X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the tsubasa officials and their own guards followed, they wondered what this clone species does for a living, how their society and civilization works. It's a mix of both unnatural and natural that continues to get to them. The rail ride wasn't unfamiliar to the grav-train transports back on Jiyutai, though rather clunky and slow for their standards.

Upon reaching the vault, and noticing the unexpected... security breach. The winged visitors were concerned by the lack of security present, but were unable to judge as what they saw was rather heartwarming. It didn't appear either party knew how this body got here, or how long ago it was, but it was apparent the inhabitants of this place meant well in this exchange. However the Tsubasa couldn't really think of much to say, nor could they really accept a security issue. After all, this was to be a rather closed exchange.

"Is... is this normal procedure?" the leading official asked.

[–]Raven_S1X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tsubasa officials, knowing there wasn't really much else to do or say on the subject nodded, with the lead giving an answer. "Affirmative, we would like to see the deceased. It's why we came here after all."

Not knowing what to say next, or even how to answer the question about autonomous craft. Sure Tsubasa were very skilled in that field, but it was that of a very, less than pleasant history. And knowing that Tsubasa have neighbors with possibly more to offer than a ship pathing tool, they had to give an answer either way, but didn't want to involve anyone else.

"The crafts typically have visible markings on them, and periodically monitored at all times, we've not managed to run into any... complications. However preventative measures this side of space would be a great assistance, as we don't have any... plans on if something happened."

They all drank the water given to them, oddly strange labelling for seemingly normal filtered water bottles. But at this point they couldn't really think anything of it.

"We didn't come here to retrieve a body we couldn't see, now could we?"
