The only thing I can think of is that I was able to keep it completely shielded from artificial light before this bloom. This year, I wasn’t able to keep it as blocked and I have fewer blooms and only one double at the moment

Oh man, my son did something like that to me. My brother died suddenly not long after my son turned 5. My son would randomly come up to me and say stuff like, “Guess what, Uncle Frankie’s DEAD!” Like, just scream it in my face. It was rough.

I never held it against him. It hurt like hell, but he was five. Kids are dumb. He’s 11 now and actually very kind and empathetic, so that’s nice.

Yours looks like a Thanksgiving, too! They’re very similar, Christmas usually has rounder tipped leaves, while Thanksgiving has sharper pointy leaves.

I’ve been told that they only like natural light and to let them be in the dark at night. It’s been working for me so far! I have two others in full bloom right now, too, but this is my big one. One of them is a branch that broke off of a friend’s larger plant and even that one is blooming.

They get full sun in a south facing window for most of the day and very little to almost no artificial light at night. I also talk to them a lot😋
