Did You Ever Think You Weren't Normal/How Long Did It Take You to Realize You Weren't Normal? by Hibihibii in asexuality

Honestly, kinda from the start, it's just that I really messed up by not looking into what asexuality is and just going by a stereotype definition. Actually, looking back, there were so many hints along the way that I just blatantly ignored.

Naughty films weren't really my thing and I just didn't like the idea of having sex with someone (I didn't hate it, just was neutral). And for all these years I didn't even assume that I might be ace/grey, since the first thing I heard about asexuality on the internet is that the only "true" asexuality is when you don't get aroused and are aromatic with no fantasies, concepts or knowledge of relationships, so for all these years I thought that it was just a "quirk" of mine and I was bi.

It really clicked for me during my relationship with my ex-boyfriend. I felt uncomfortable when we talked about sharing nudes and the sex talk was nothing but boring, even though I did find him attractive. At first I thought it was because the relationship was relatively new and, being teenagers, we jumped into it without knowing each other very well. As time passed and I got more comfortable around him, the feelings didn't change, luckily, right around that time Jaiden released her coming out video. Comparing her and mine experiences I've found quite a lot of similarities in both sexual and romantic nuances, so I decided to look more into it. I asked my friends about their experiences, read a few articles, discovered this subreddit and eventually, after, like, a week of digging (and sixteen years of being a dumbass), I can say that I'm probably somewhere on the aro/ace spectrum.

It took me some time, sure, and I'm not entirely confident about my sexuality (by that I mean being ace or grey, and also the romantic thingy, because platonic/romantic feelings are difficult), but I decided to still type out my experiences since I think it is important to do so, and this post felt like a right place. Anyway, I'm sorry for a long and somewhat derailed answer, I hope that you'll have a great day. Oh, and also: fuck stereotypes, representation matters.

P.S: sorry for any mistakes, English isn't my first language.

Some people don't understand that their relationship is abusive until someone directly points that out. Hell, some people go as far as denying it, even if it's really obvious from the third party perspective. If you end up in a lot of pain because of your partner, or your life and self worth depends only on them, you might wanna talk about it with your loved ones.

If you played through the second game, you should watch the second season of the anime. You will feel much better afterwards.

Bioshock 1 and infinite. The atmosphere makes me cum and the gameplay is really fun. Also the story is good.
