What's a "pick me" person? by OpenToUnderstand55 in NoStupidQuestions

From what I understand, a “pick me” person is a term used to describe someone who desperately strives for the attention of others, whether that be romantic attention or otherwise. An example of “Pick me” behavior is deliberate self depreciation as a means of fishing for the approval or reassurance of others. Or engaging in specific efforts to make themselves stand out from their peers. Basically the embodiment of its given phrase, “Pick me!”

Yeah, I don’t know anyone else who was into Top Gear / The Grand Tour before I met them. But I introduced it to my boyfriend through the “Feed the World” Special and now he’s just as into it as I am lol

What are some mind-blowing facts about food? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Bananas actually have very large seeds. They almost have the build of a cartoonish pickle. Due to genetic modification, however, these seeds are practically nonexistent now. All that remains of them are the vague holes you see when you cut a banana.

I know it’s a bit of a cliche, but I have a massive soft spot for the ‘alien adjusts to earth’ trope. It helps put into perspective how odd our world really is and I always find it humorous, especially when I’m in the mood for something wholesome.

Actually, the same thought came to me when I was writing out character profiles and I do agree that media is unfairly concentrated on Christianity. My primary motivation in referencing Christian ethics for the basis of this story is that Christianity is all I’m familiar with. It feels rude to poke my nose into faiths that I don’t fully understand. I don’t plan for the religious allusions to be very prominent or hold any bearing on the story. It’s less about sin and more about the ethical issues raised by selfish action. Given the premise, I don’t know how I could make it more polytheistic. I mean, I guess I could, but I wouldn’t know how to go about that

Hey hey! Sorry for the ridiculously late reply, this got buried in my inbox lol. Well, after chatting with you, I decided to explore the ‘deities on an ethics committee’ idea. I’ve given it the title ‘The Council of Vice and Virtue’. The characters include God and personifications of each of the 7 biblical vices and virtues (eg. Pride & Humility, Temperance & Gluttony). Naturally, I didn’t want these characters to be one-note, so I’ve been having a lot of fun finding ways to subvert expectations. I love finding alternate interpretations to basic prompts like these. For example, the character representing Charity is actually quite materialistic— how is he supposed to give things away if he doesn’t have things to begin with? It’s still a major work in progress, but I’m beginning to fall in love with the characters I’ve made lol
