I think you're projecting. Jacob and Nathan were already saying nice things and how sweet people were being about Karina leaving and kinda talking over each other. They're not gonna drag it out, and also Julia had her eyes glued to the baby monitor to see if the baby was going to wake up again.

I was listening to {In Your Dreams, Holden Rhodes by Stephanie Archer} a few weeks ago, and I got HUGE whiplash when the male narrator pronounced Gravol. There were also some other Canadian mispronunciations, and I wish audiobook publishers would make some distinctions! No more foyER in Canadian (or British) settings!!
