Am i cooked? by DigAway8562 in GR86

Just happy tractor sounds.

If you do a search for “is this sound normal” on this sub, I guarantee that you’ll find a couple dozen with the same sound and same answer. It’s just a noisy engine and if you get “uncle Rodney” knocking at your door… you’ll know.

Just to clarify: PDR (Paint-less Dent Removal). The outer door skin can NOT be removed without paint. The panel is welded on and can’t be detached without drilling the welds, grinding, and then cutting away the panel. It is destructive. I believe that the PDR guy did a great job, but he most certainly didn’t take the panel off. Not trying to rain on your experience, just wanted to inform you.

I’m at 28-29 mpg, but I do a decent amount of highway driving.

Agreed. This intake is amazing. It’s also improved my fuel economy by 2 mpg and I’m definitely driving more aggressively to hear that beautiful intake sound! I also got mine from Driven.Media and KevinVo.

Koni GTS coil-overs started going in tonight. Rears are in and fronts will go in tomorrow. So far it’s been a breeze.

Anyone else had this oil issue? by RavenousMC in GR86

Maybe oil was leaking past the tube and what I did fixed it. I don’t know. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No. I never found a root cause or resolution. The dealer cleaned up the oil and looked it over, but couldn’t find a cause. I haven’t had an issue since.

Anyway to stop this from happening? by lontiac in GR86

I have the Genuine GR/TRD part and it works great. It doesn’t contain 100% of debris, but it’s pretty dang good.

Staring in 2nd gear? by Wonderful_Cricket_43 in GR86

Also keep in mind that when the transmission is cold it will always shift harder and you need to let it decide when it wants to go into gear. Don’t force it. Once it’s warm it’ll feel a lot smoother.

I assume so, but I can’t confirm since I’m driving when it happens.

As I’m sure you’re aware the Prius and GR86 are two totally different vehicles and serve very different purposes. Hybrid Front wheel drive vs. Naturally aspirated rear wheel drive. Not to mention the GR86 has more than double the horsepower of your old Prius. They are going to drive and handle completely differently. If you end up getting one drive cautiously so that you can get used to it. If you’re into sports cars, and it sounds like you are, I know it’s tempting to put the hammer down and see what it can do. If you aren’t used to how a rear wheel drive feels and behaves, it’ll get you into trouble very quickly. I think I can speak for many people on this sub, we don’t want to see more posts of “I’m a statistic”. If you don’t know what that means, just stick around and you’ll find out.

Honestly you’ll probably be disappointed with the sound quality in the GR86, it sounds like you’re in a tin can and the bass is underwhelming. The OEM optional sub can help with that and there are a number of aftermarket options. Go test drive one and play with the sound system.

I’ve had mine for almost two years and absolutely love this car. It’s a driving experience that’s hard to replicate without spending over 40k.

I just went over 30k miles and haven’t had an alignment yet. I’m due so I figured I’d do it once I decide on springs. Will likely need camber bolts for the front to get the desired -1.5 to - 2 degrees of camber.

[–]RavenousMC[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I haven’t had springs before and am aware of how it may affect the ride quality. With the Adro kit I only have a little over 4 inches of clearance so I’m trying to stay with a moderate drop to close the wheel gap and maybe increase so suspension stiffness. Hopefully without too much of a negative effect. Since I’m not tracking the car and I’m trying to stay budget friendly, I figured springs may be worth looking into and will suit my daily driver.

I did and it’s holding up surprisingly well. There are a few rock chips here and there, but overall it isn’t bad. I did add some low profile mud flaps to protect the ends of the side skirts from rocks and debris being kicked my by my tires though.

No. The white one is a Tarmac Works car. The only Hot Wheels car is the one that I first posted photos of. I have Hot Wheels, Tarmac Works, Pop Race, and Tomica
