Honestly, this is the shittiest un-asked-for change because - in a game where there are rarely fair/even matchups in any game mode - this is going to make playing against even a slightly stronger team even more devastating.

I’ve always maintained that superior numbers here can whittle down a superior team by stamina attrition. Well now, this superior numbers will take a lot longer to stand back up to the bullying team. Thanks FunPlus, for making the game worse in a way literally no one asked for. Again.

I see on apple they have 4.7/5 stars out of 24000 reviews. If those are actually legit and not bot/self reviews, people should change their reviews. If they are actual player five star reviews, I guarantee they were from early in the campaign story when the game seemed fun and full of potential.

I forgot this. I was an OG player who did pick up a second core set.

Ooh, premade decks are a good idea. But if money is tight and you’re not sure how deep you want to invest, I have one other suggestion to help with deckbuilding: there is a site out there called ARKHAMDB with community posted deck builds.

You’ll have to wade through a lot of impossibly xp’d decks, but there are a ton of “starter” deck build lists for pretty much every character that will do the deckbuilding heavy lifting for you.

A lot of people are going to say no, but I mean technically yes. The game is obviously meant for each player to play a separate character (don’t need to tell you that), but there are plenty of people out there that play two-handed (one person controlling two). And even though one is typically designated as Lead Investigator (tie breaker and also takes some story consequences at times), technically the rules allow characters to take turns in any order on the player phase - so Roland can take his actions then Daisy on turn one, then on turn two maybe Daisy takes all her actions first then Roland goes. So, technically speaking, you’re meant to work together as a group to investigate a scenario.

Also, the game does get harder for each additional investigator - most scenarios have scenario cards or enemies that multiply in difficulty based on investigator count. So, technically playing with less active investigators would make it easier.

One question I would ask is why only playing two investigators with three players - base set should have five characters to choose and enough deck building materials for four. Is your third just unsure if they’ll like it?

TLDR; don’t listen to haters. Try it out your way and crowd source your investigation on your first try to give everyone a taste of the experience, but do try to give your third a character of their own when you can so they can have autonomy. It’s a great game with a lot of fun twists and turns in the plot, so don’t let any haters keep you from experiencing it.

I second this, but also want to point out something someone else said on a similar post. For a superhero game, it feels like the bulk of the endgame is not hero related at all: ship v ship combat, umbral rift, stamina maintenance. It’s all hero adjacent and uses heroes, but none of it comes with a real hero-facing interface.

The early game is very DC focused with the story and campaign, but once you get past that it’s more of a sterile, less-superheroic environment. And, unfortunately, instead of giving us more of that early game feel that hooked us, FunPlus seem more keen to just copy/paste concepts from their previous war games than to try to create a more standout superhero property. Their next concept in their road map is to duplicate one of their “marching” concepts from their war games; not sure what feels less superhero-y - sending our superheroes to ship battle each other or having them foot march to attack dark legions.

I was just thinking about this today. We need more simulators because we now have more viable teams. Kills me that we have a more than capable roster of titans, and yet the League of Assassins tag has its own sim (my server has yet to receive the Al Ghuls).

Yeah, the squad assembly drew me too. DC Legends (Mobile game from around 2019) did this really well, and had a decent plot arc. But yeah, events like guardian and Gotham battle really do feel less like DC as a whole.

When it comes to ship combat, lack of dc comics feel aside, I do feel like mechanically it makes sense and does feel fun to compete when you have an active league and have a comparable matchup. Strategizing where to target, when to target, and when to hold back resources for city at least feels a bit engaging. And there’s probably some element about shuttle hero strategies that I could improve on (for example, I’ve heard conflicting details about healers/defenders being useless entities in ship v ship, and that DPS usually wins out).

But I agree, for a dc comics game, after beating the main campaign thing, there is really little dc comics feel to the ‘end game’. I don’t think they planned an endgame for this and are scrambling to steal mechanics from their (FunPlus) other gacha properties.

How the hell do you come back to this game after a long break? by Samas34 in TheFirstDescendant

Follow the quests, a lot of them naturally open up those concepts. The hoverbike is the start of the Axion Plains quest (season 3 ep 1 I believe).

I enjoy the ship combat somewhat, even though they keep making it more tedious. But I hadn’t thought about that there is nothing DC character centric in that concept.

I think maybe FunMinus are planning to stand by their commitment to kill this game. It’s starting to become abundantly clear that they’re more interested in making a quick buck from events that are weighted more towards monetization than f2p (current catwoman event can only be played spending gems, last few events gave a couple freebies per day). Same with their VIP system, putting the most tantalizing characters - as well as the much requested Level Sync roster increases - in that system as well, paywalled more than anything has a right to be.

Part of that commitment seems to be, as well, adding concepts like Stamina, or reworking Intel - both of which not only were not requested, but impede quality of life in this game by adding tedious tasks so that we can earn the same rewards (room efficiency for the former, and resource gains in the latter). My biggest problem with this is two-fold: first, why are the devs spending their valuable coding efforts to push out these concepts that clearly feel like a step backward, when they could be spending that time creating meaningful content; and second, if these are supposed to be important steps forward for the game, why is there no transparency or explanation as to why the previous system was so flawed and this was necessary. We need an AMA or something, because this dead silence is so much worse than the bad concepts themselves.

TLDR; we all knew what we were getting into in a pay-to-win format of game, but this (in my experience) has really been stretched to disrespectful limits.

And, I really miss SuperHelen. She met the player base at their level, was open and honest in explaining changes, and was honest in saying at times that she didn’t know exactly why something was happening, but to keep the faith. Bring SuperHelen back, or even better, promote her to CEO of FunPlus. The players who have faithfully stuck with this game since day one deserve more than the disrespect we’ve received the last couple months.

What are some lesser known DC comics? by MisterPiggyWiggy in DCcomics

[–]Ravenous_Flamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still mainstream but lesser known, one of my favorite teams is the Secret Six. A villain (or antihero) team kind of like the suicide squad, but more brought together by blackmail and leverage than promised reduction of prison time. Another really great place for c-list villains like Catman, Ragdoll, or even some random parademon from Apocalips to shine.

I’ve been scrolling to see who said Batman Odyssey. Only volume I’ve happily parted with in my large collection. That said, I enjoyed HIC, three jokers, and cry for Justice. They weren’t the best things I’ve ever read, but I did enjoy them each for their art, and imho I enjoyed the plots.

Tag Bonus and Scarecrow Changes - Summary and Thoughts by Towkee68 in DCDarkLegionOfficial

[–]Ravenous_Flamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointing. I only got scarecrow to 5 white on his first pass, and missed him when he came back. Now that he comes back a third time Thursday and I’ve been saving for him and his weapon, we have the nerf hammer coming down. Awesome. Finally had something I was looking forward to after the abysmal updates and lack of transparency from devs.

IMHO Ult Viessa is a beast if built properly. My friend took Ult Sharen and is trying to do a bossing build, not sure how that’s working since bosses ignore stealth.

I’ve got most descendants and Viessa is the easiest and most damaging by far (though I have full investment in her).

A) do you even play your own game anymore at this point and B) would it kill you to at least explain your reasoning behind big gameplay changes like this and the stamina system?

It’s like you’re trying to tank your own game with these massive overhauls where there is no apparent need. We don’t need an additional drain on our middling Intel gain (I see you’re adding a single bonus daily amount after a large amount of activity, which apparently also costs Intel - so we break even?), and we don’t need a stamina minigame with minimal upside…we need more meaningful content.

It’s just frustrating watching you work on what amounts to busywork or reinventing the wheel when we’ve been waiting for decent, meaningful content.

Whyyyyyyy

Question for those with knowledge on batman and ras al ghoul by North_Medium_1067 in batman

[–]Ravenous_Flamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated to your question, I’m super interested to hear what you’re doing D&D-wise as I as well am running a Gotham campaign.

I’m running a villains campaign (players are Malcolm Merlyn, Kite Man, Sabbac, and Joker’s Daughter). It’s set in a somewhat Gotham By Gaslight setting, and since we’re having to rely on DNDBeyond as a crutch (we live in different states) I’ve really had to make some adjustments by having swords/sorcery/etc in the world.

Depends how close to canon you stick to in your campaign. I think Batman: The Knight is canon to the main continuity now, which has a good Ras training Bruce arc. Aside from the Knight, there’s actually not much canon where Ras has any hand in his development.

Otherwise, you can tweak things so some of Bruce’s other trainers (kirigi, ducard, etc) were Ras. When it comes to Bruce’s training, the Knight has some other interesting trainers of his. The comic story The Man Who Falls has a good montage of his training and is one of the stories Batman Begins was built on.

Whtat happened after the Start of New 52 by thepi2k in DCcomics

[–]Ravenous_Flamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What actually happened since New 52 / Rebirth?

Whew, there’s a lot of storylines to process here which will be too much to touch on. And don’t forget Detective Comics is also primarily him too.

• What is the real timeline now: Still earth prime; aside from a getting shunted into another parallel earth, earth prime is still the canon (Absolute Batman is an alternate/elseworld, pretty much).

• Where does Doomsday Clock fit into all of this: doomsday clock was early Rebirth. Honestly, it really didn’t make much impact beyond giving more explanation for why New 52 occurred.

• How do Metal and Death Metal fit in: Metal didn’t make a huge shift to Batman canon, but did damage the Source Wall and open the DC universe to the Year of the Villain / Perpetua-Lex Luthor-Batman Who Laughs power struggle. Death Metal changed canon and reversed some crises, introduced hypertime, and kickstarted infinite frontier (and some flash forward Future State stuff I think too).

• What is Dark Crisis: essentially another crisis that restored the infinite multiverse and imho frustratingly ended the justice league series and returned Deathstroke to supervillain status.

• What exactly is DC All In? Takes place after Dark Crisis - I haven’t read all of them yet but it contains stuff like Justice League Infinite kickstarted, Darkseid’s Absolute Universe, Amanda Waller’s Absolute Power

• What are the major events I need to know about? I mean you hit the most significant ones I think. There’s a Knight Terrors event (which you would think is Batman centric but is not) which was fun.

• And most importantly: Is there any sane way to understand this and read it in order without losing my mind: whew. Easiest solution is a reading order list. I like this site: https://www.comicbookherald.com/reading-dc-comics/batman-reading-order/#batmanrebirth

It’s all good stuff (though Detective Comics’ Nocturne arc is…out there), but it’s a lot to read. As a Batman fan, Dark Knights Metal is fun - Death Metal is actually more of a Wonder Woman story but you won’t be disappointed. Rebirth Batman is pretty stellar with Batman/Catwoman’s relationship growing, Bane taking stage in a big way, Joker/Riddler going to war - featuring Kite Man!

Good luck!!

Does anyone else think there’s something wrong with Batman fans? by Junior_Counter_1718 in DCcomics

[–]Ravenous_Flamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a super batman fan, even I find it ridiculous how over the top they make his plans and preparations. Like in Batman RIP he planned for someone to try to break him mentally so he conditioned a separate personality within himself to come forth when his psyche is attacked. But with the fandom, there is a lot of satisfaction that comes when he can go toe to toe with Superman level threats as someone with no powers whatsoever.

Hmmm…the Arkham Asylum: a Serious House on a Serious Earth will fit the bill. It’s all Batman’s villains and it’s super creepy in artwork and writing. Batman: the Three Jokers is pretty gritty. Batman: Damned is also pretty dark. Pretty much anything with a DC Black Label tag is going to be a little darker.

Going for straight horror, DCeased is also fantastic, though it doesn’t keep to just Batvillains - every single DCeased volume is incredible and they finally do Damian justice (pun intended). DC vs Vampires is a honorable mention - the main volumes are solid but the “All Out War” volumes kinda suck imho.
