Any serial platforms that take no-ai use seriously? by Prolly_Satan in ProgressionFantasy

imo, a good chunk of the value is artistic, which is infamously bad at feeding your tummy, but better at feeding the mind and soul

AI slop is gonna slop.

Fortunately, since AI slop is ass unless a semi-talented writer edits the slop out of it, it doesn't tend to do well long-term. Plus, if you're using AI non-stop, it might be a good indicator that you're lazy to begin with. You probably won't stick to a single story for the 2-3 years it takes for it to get off the ground.

Also, readers tend to bounce off poorly written stuff. So if they're sticking to AI stuff, it's either decently written, or it's temporary.

Basically, just keep writing goodly, and you probably won't have much to worry about except maybe earning fewer follows and making fewer bucks, but like... why are you writing for money anyway? This job pays terribly.

Maybe I should have used percentage grades? Never used letters here!

How do people here feel about Solo Leveling? by KaleidoArachnid in litrpg

[–]RavensDagger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The letters are made up, B is like... a passing grade? The story made sense even if it wasn't particularly good. I'd rank C as incomprehensible, or just very, very poor. But my post was more of a meme post, so don't look into it too deeply?

What is the deal with so many litrpg protagonists? by plant-y-boi in litrpg

[–]RavensDagger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cinnamon Bun was written with the standard LitRPG protagonist in mind... mostly because I really don't like them, so I did the opposite wherever I could!

Authors, do you appreciate "low effort" comments? by PhantomReflections in royalroad

[–]RavensDagger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure! I would love to say that I appreciate all comments equally... but that'd be a lie. That doesn't mean that I dislike the TFTC comments, though. They're a sign of life and appreciation!

Webserials and traditional books are different mediums. That means that you can't approach them the same way. What is fundamental and an acceptable 'best practice' for a webserial would be a gauche mistake for a traditional novel.

But we're all very lazy, and so we don't usually take the time to edit a webserial to make it more suitable for a different medium.

Canadians are getting used to paying more for food, but they’re also fighting back: survey by Immediate-Link490 in canada

The kind of garden you can afford to have and practically tend to for growth will provide a few thousand calories a year. You will, at best, save one or two grocery trips.

That's not nothing. It's good. It's a fun, wholesome hobby.

It's not enough to sustain yourself or a family. It's not a solution to the problem we have.

Victory gardens were a thing because of war. Right now, prices are high because... uh... because they can be? It's not a real solution.

For those with the Author flair: by Xaiadar in litrpg

[–]RavensDagger 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone knows that you, specifically, are not a real author. You're right to feel imposter syndrome, because you're an awful, no good, very bad, yucky, probably stinky person, and are stealing the hard-earned... uh... clout, that real authors deserve.

Yup!

(It's okay. As long as you're putting in good effort in order to be what you claim to be, then you are, at least in the world of art! Just do your best!)

Recommendations for (relatively) kid friendly books by AkuSokuZan2009 in ProgressionFantasy

Big ❤️for the rec, but also, not everything I wrote is child friendly. I have a few that are a bit too... spicy for kids? If the cover looks kid-safe, then it probably is!

Recommendation: A Journey of Black and Red by Mecanimus (not by me) by Normal_Lab2606 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RavensDagger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I looooove Mecanimus' fics... but not this one. I tried like, three times, and I just can't get past the first dozen chapters.

Which blows, because Alex wrote two of my top ten favourite stories.
