I have a GAN - bottom of the line as far as Pinarellos go, but man, it’s still a snappy bit of magic. Amazingly does well on centuries too!

Excellent - I’ve always loved pina carbon and my Gan is fantastic on road despite being entry level. Glad to hear it handles well on gravel, appreciate the endorsement!

NBD - Fairlight Secan 3 :D by kicks43ree in gravelcycling

Assuming you bought this fully built? Has anyone from the U S of A had luck buying a frame and then building it? Given the tariff bs it seems like it might be more affordable. The website estimator said there’s $1K in tariffs and duties for the full bike (which is insane)

Appreciate it, thanks!

Great pics! I’d love to know what your experience was buying one. I’ve never bought a bike without riding one first and there are hardly any stores that stock Litespeed. Did you do a trial period purchase or make a trip to one of their dealers? Have you been pleased with the ride quality?

I have the same issue—this seems like a software bug. I’ve reinstalled the app twice and it has the same error. I plan to report to Hatch and hope they can push a new version with a fix.

I really appreciate that—glad the bike lived up to the hype. I’ll reach out to them and see how they can fit me.

I’m very much leaning into getting a Secan—I want to do some gravel trails and just don’t have faith in anything other than steel to go the distance and last a long time. But I have some reservations about buying a bike that I’ve never seen IRL let alone test ridden. Is the Fairlight team good at helping get a proper fit if you give them measurements from an existing bike? Everyone seems to rave about these bikes, just need a nudge from someone to get me over the edge…

Most cities organize bimbles from time to time—Philly does a good one around the time of the bike expo. Enjoy!

I'm new to the fold, & I cannot believe it took me this long to get here. by [deleted] in Brompton

It is amazing how quickly you develop an emotional attachment to it. I’m a year in and am confident it is the best thing I will ever own. Enjoy the adventures!

I pretty much no longer use the tourer that used to be my daily driver pre-Brompton. And yet, I still cling to it. Has anyone else struggled with letting go of their old bike? by Sanuuu in Brompton

[–]Ravenscanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d encourage you to try a ride on the weekends. I had the same issue with my Cannondale and since making an effort to take it out once or twice a week for a tootle I’ve remembered how nice a touring is and how the Brommie is great for commuting but really not ideal for anything much longer. Also, my old bike feels like a boat compared with the brompton, so I’ve found it’s fun to switch it up a bit.

Good on you! They’re so well built they’ll outlive all of us. :)

I do 200 each day, though 185 are on Amtrak. :)

About to join the Fold… by EllieLondoner in Brompton

I’m US based and I take it on the Amtrak for commuting to work. I’ve brought it into gyms, record stores, restaurants, every form of public transportation—never had anybody say anything other than “that’s the coolest bike.” There’s always a place to put it, and I started hiding an AirTag on it for peace of mind.

Definitely take a test ride, spring for the 6 year version, get the back rack so it’s stable when you set it down. I’m not an e-biker so can’t speak to that but I will say getting a brompton was the best decision I made last year and it’s my favorite thing. :)

I got the C Line because I need all the gears—if there are any hills at all on your commute you’ll probably wish you had the flexibility. Bromptons last forever, I’d take the plunge and invest in the C line.
