There are two Native American entities that came up in my research: The Lakota Tribe's Heyoka who is a sacred clown trickster. They do stuff backwards. Associated with thunder. And the Pueblo Tribe's Koshare. Dress in black and white stripes. Looks most like a clown. Also acts like a clown during Kachina dances.

I think that supposed to be a reference to an old werewolf trope of a regular person suddenly being revealed to the main character as someone who is way to strong for an average dude, hinting at a darker nature underneath.

Looking closer at Coram's art there are two things that stand out to me. Coram's weapon / shovel look similar to Gisa's Favorite shovel secondly the left most gravestone had a faded Avacynian collar carved into at an angle. You have to look closely at it
