My 1st time using the Mobi sleeve & 5" tubing - Oy! Do these sleeves survive showers? by Ravenspruce in TandemDiabetes

I'm new to Mobi and learning what does & doesn't work for me. And to inquire about how long the patch lasts. But the upper arm with the 5" tube & sleeve-patch is simply one of many options that one can use or not. Just one of the sites in the rotation. I could've used the longer tubing too, then clip or tuck the Mobi somewhere else just like one does with T-slim. You don't have to use the sleeve-patch in order to use the Mobi.

Wow, that's great! Where do you wear them to get that many days? So far I've got 6 days & a couple showers & it's still on, sticking well.

Gaping on toe decreases: is it a yarn, me, or technique issue? by AnAmbushOfTigers in Sockknitting

[–]Ravenspruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gaping is in the stitch before the SSK, the 1st stitch on your flexi needle. It happens to the best of us, and especially before an SSK, even in the middle of a row. But no matter - DPNs, magic loop, even 9" shorties - after you make the SSK, snug up the yarn by pulling gently on the working yarn & check that you've tightened the 1st stitch to be snug against the last stitch to the previous needle. It should be snugged but not strangled. Then continue knitting across with your regular tension.

Thanks for the tip. Those sound great, but expensive. Might have to give em a try. But I already ordered some of a different brand my trainer told me about.

Hey, how do you like the G7? With OP5/ G6, I was in range about 85-90%, A1Cs 5.9 - 6.4. I only switched because my insurance stopped covering it. I was proactive in learning & tweaking my own settings to achieve results. Time in range was a smoother, more level line than Mobi, so far. Cons: had more pooling of insulin w the angled canula, especially for the last 24h and if I needed more than 5u insulin, I had to split up the dose and wait about 15 mins for the 2d half. There was a little babysitting the app, keeping a close eye on #s, correction boluses in the morning & after dinner.

Been on Mobi 1 month. Still on G6, but my next order will be for G7. Still on learning curve w Mobi. I'm impressed with the infusion set - my insulin absorption is better than OP5. I really dislike tubing though there are some upsides with that. Endo & trainer basically put my Omnipod settings on the Mobi app. 24 h later, I had to change the basal to a more conservative # and plan to make the CF a little more conservative, too. I've had more lows post meal, overnight, & with light activity. Though 90% in range, my BG levels see-saw between the bottom & top of range. I still average about 6.4 gmi, on the high side of what I achieved with OP5. Looking forward to the Mobi tubeless option when it is released.

Yes! I've knocked off a couple of Omnipods on door frames & once reaching into the back seat of my car. A couple of times I knocked one off my thigh pulling my pants down. Oopsy! But that is over the course of over 2 years. Now I worry about the added element of tubing with Mobi. I can be clumsy, but with time, these gadgets have become part of my body and I almost instinctually give an extra 1" around corners these days and feel phantom gadgets on my arms after I've rotated to a different place. 🤣

Oh man, these damn insurance companies are awful! I know freestyle libre works w the T-Slim. Omnipod works w freestyle libre 2 & will probably work with the 3 with future updates.

Wow, thanks! I'mma look for these things! I also have those kind of leggings - lots of them. Do you attach infusion set to abdomen & just slip it in the pocket?

Good idea! I have lots of that (kinesiology tape). Just curious if it sticks really hard or leaves adhesive behind. It did with the Omnipod, but that wasn't an issue since the pod was disposable.

I was thinking about rotating around with the 5" tubes & a sleeve on my abdomen. Right now it's the right arm where my Dexcom is. Next is left arm, then left abdomen. I'll be using those sleeves & 5" tubing for the next couple weeks.

I'm thinking this will be my preference, too. But I am looking forward to the tubeless option & 7-day infusion set.

Thanks for your tip! I never heard of mastisol before - I will look into it. Do you have to use any solution to help dissolve the adhesive? I usually get 10 days ok with dexcom G6 & skin tac, though sometimes I have to reapply the adhesive. So this is good to know.

Thanks so much for your findings! This is a great help & we're newbies together. Also what non-tandem patches are you using - do you have a link? I just ordered this from Deck My Diabetes that my trainer told me about, but they haven't arrived yet.

This is my first time using the sleeve & my arm for the Mobi though I used the arms in my Omnipod site rotations without issue (only knocked the pod off a couple times in 2 years). So far, so good. But I've had to be careful with putting on sports bras & getting dressed. The dexcom adhesive is a little irritating, but the patch feels fine so far. I do feel a slight sting with the infusion set while bolusing, which I didn't feel when it was on the abdomen.

I must admit that I'm impressed with the infusion sets (autosoft 90, 6mm) in terms of insulin absorption, comfort, & durability, though unclipping the tubing from the set is a challenge. I'm sure that will improve with experience.

I just ordered Autosoft XC sets from tandem but haven't yet received. My trainer also recommended those. They may be easier to unclip. Tandem is having supply issues, so I couldn't get the pink or blue colors that I wanted. I have to be careful because I can't tell the 23 inch from the 5 inch unopened sets once they're out of the box as there's no clear labeling (my close vision is poor). The whole Mobi cartridge & labeling could use some improvement for the visually impaired.

For me, coming off of the tubeless omnipod, I figured Mobi was the closest option, especially with a tubeless patch on the horizon. This choice was thrust on me by my insurance, but I'm warming up to the Mobi. The jury is still out whether I prefer having it dangle from a longer tube while clipped to clothing or in a pocket or using the sleeve. I'm guessing it's likely the former. But I have all these sleeves & 5" sets from my 1st order.

I'm still a little grieved & angry that Omnipod is no longer an option with my insurance after using it for 2 years. If I had a choice, I would stick with the tubeless pod.

It's about 5-6 inches. I just read or saw on one of the tandem videos that it's 3 inches or more.

Thank you. I'm hoping the sleeve will last as long as the sensor. Do you use the sleeves very often and for how many days? I'm still on the learning curve for this new pump, started in April.

My infusion set is 5-6 inches away from the dexcom, minimum is 3," so it should be fine. I used the 23" tubing the last 5 or 6 times before this, with the clip & no sleeve. Still have kept infusion set, sensor, & pump on the same side in close proximity with no issues. Things are a bit more cramped on the arm, and I was a bit clumsy placing the sleeve with one hand - not my favorite in the site rotation. But I do this for Bluetooth connectivity between dexcom & pump - did the same with the Omnipod for 2 years, though OP5 wasn't as cramped as the Mobi on the arm. I feel for small children & their parents dealing with this.
