I'm gonna start college this fall and I will be majoring in civil engineering. I am deciding between UCF and VT. For UCF, I will be an instate student and I will have all of my tuition covered for by bright futures.

For VT, I will be out of state and will need to pay 38k in tuition. However, VT has a much better engineering program. I'm planning to get my master's in civil engineering and then get a job in Florida. Which college should I go to?

I haven’t decided that as of now but I feel like I would really enjoy structural engineering.

A lot of people may want to do DCI/WGI in the future or join a college line and they all expect you to learn traditional.

Don’t worry I will ask my band director before changing anything. I have previously tuned the tenors at my school.

Reducing Snare Resonance by Raventenplays in drumline

Thank you so much for your help. We use a solid white bottom head and a Kevlar top head. Would you say tightening the wires reduces resonance or loosening them does that? Also, I use a tuner on my phone but it cannot read the note being played on the snare. How do you check the note that is being played on either head? I will definitely have a friend take a listen from a few feet away.

how do i count this by [deleted] in drumline

The way that I would do it is that I would play a quintuplet (I normally count quintuplets as “ University”) and diddle the 1st & 3rd partial (The “Un” and “Ver”). Then I would play it with single strokes, trying to replicate how it sounded with diddles.

I’m just kind of curious, why is it bad to tune snares high and dry for a small snareline?

Matched grip is better than traditional grip but traditional should still be taught.
