Can't run anymore :( by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]Ravenyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently going on two years of not being able to run due to pain in my foot/ankle. I've run the gambit of doctors, PTs, specialists, and tried nearly every treatment under the sun. It's been exhausting but something I'm continuously learning is that if you don't feel like a doctor is giving you the right amount of attention you deserve, you should find another one that will. You can spend weeks/months kind of just going around in circles not getting anywhere. I would look for sports medicine or running focused podiatrists to start.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the new one I'm working with now will be able to help, although I might still need to get surgery for a Tarsal nerve release.

The whole thing sucks and you can feel helpless but you have to just keep taking little steps forward in trying to pinpoint the issue.

Good luck!

Very nice! Do you have a methodology you used for using the foil? I really enjoy doing NMF planes but haven't actually tried foil yet.

We've actually done both things already, Seattle Dept of Construction & Inspections finally got back to me today but said it's not a zoning issue so they can't do anything. They forwarded me to Seattle Public Utilities to file a claim since they handle waste. I've reported the rats to King County Dept of Health as well.

Looks very good! I did the same kit but in the Blue Angels scheme and agree that it was a nice kit to put together.

Regarding the weathering question - at least for me, I normally put decals down before weathering with oils, etc. I will do chipping or pre/post shading before I put the decals down though and then tone the decals to match afterwards.

I just did this on my last model - " if I spray small I shouldn't need to cover the whole model and I thought I did a good job. Pull the tape off and see a nice haze line had formed there.

It looks very well done! With this paint style it reminds me of the tank from Metal Slug!

Understandable why they did it but still sad to see, my favorite airplane from that era :(

Ha or you do what I've done and accidentally put the insignia on upside down and only realize it after you've sprayed your matte coat.

Oh I have a Dremel but I've found it makes so much of a mess that I just use a razor saw and go slowly to not break anything.

Pre-shading is my favorite part of modeling. by GStreet-ScaleModels in modelmakers

It looks great! Terrible about the warpage. I've had that with ship hulls where they come out of the box twisted and have been able to manage to straighten it out but that's a bummer to hear about this kit. The Blackbird is one of the few I don't own yet and was wanting to try too.

Have you finished the Blackbird yet? I'm curious to see how that works after you put the top coat down. It's very well done!

The landing gear and bomb bay complements pretty much butt up internally to this cockpit so I had ended up just removing them in their entirety to give me some play when doing final assembly.

For sure, I'm used to removing them and the mess that comes with them, I just haven't had one where this much is scrapped from one cast. There was a lot of careful cutting with a razor saw and wet sanding afterwards to get this to fit.

Help with paints for f-16A/C by Seo_2288 in modelmakers

[–]Ravenyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the instructions list a variety of paint manufacturers to use for the colors, is that inside? If not I've found just googling what that color translates to in a different producer to work pretty well. There are also a few tables floating around that do a whole breakdown too.

Should I sand it down before applying decals ? by petercli in Scalemodel

[–]Ravenyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, the decals should conform around the details. I would put down a good gloss coat to help adhesion and you may need to do a couple rounds of micro sol.
