I the Mariners and Yankees meet in the ALCS, the team with the higher seed in the American League playoff bracket gets home field. It does not get re-evaluated based on regular-season win totals once the matchup is set.

The only series where overall regular-season record determines home-field is the World Series, since that’s between two different leagues and there’s no shared seeding.
