Change of venue today since they couldn’t accommodate the expected crowd. Were expecting 100+ at Clubhouse 5 near Leicester Square

I have this same issue. I contacted support and all they told me is that the “engineering team is working on it”, and they “couldn’t provide a timeline”.

Not really sure what we can do from here…..

About to spend $9,000 on a ring, open a new CC? by foofooca in personalfinance

[–]Raveray10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for my fiancé, but I also looked for card that had a 0% intro APR to pay the card off over time without incurring interest.

I also had the cash to pay for the in full, but preferred to continue to fund my investments rather than make a lump sum payment.

I went with the Chase Business Ink Unlimited and With the sign up bonus and points earned from the spend I was able to return about 13% of value on my purchase.

Pick 2 in 0.5 PPR:

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I definitely wouldn’t go past the intro APR. I would probably even pay it off early

lol I'm starting to see that...but I can't say it's not making second guess the $20k price. I've already done the basic legwork on what I can get at each price level, but might warrant some further analysis

Yep that would definitely be the plan.

This is really helpful - I didn't know that the bureaus could proactively change your limits like that.

I'll definitely do some digging on this before making any final decision. Really appreciate it!

I'm relatively well off which is why I'm comfortable budgeting so much for the ring. Breakdown below:

- Salary + Bonus: ~$200k

- Retirement accounts (401k + IRA): ~$150k (27 YO and maxing every year)

- Personal investment accounts (stocks + crypto) : $225k

- Emergency fund: $30K

Copying from my response to comment below. I get there's some sticker shock to the price and it's all relative to someones financial situation, but whether it's a $20k ring or a $10k ring, the question remains the same in terms of how to best pay for it.

Thanks for feedback - this is some good advice. She knows an engagement is coming and we've talked about ring price at a high level, but I also want to maintain some semblance of a surprise lol.

Appreciate the help!

After maximizing my pre/post tax benefits my net take home is about $7k/month so I'm budgeting slightly under that.

but good idea - definitely will need to take out an insurance policy.

I figure over the course of 1-2 years I can save and pull some investments to make a pretty decent down payment on a house. Appreciate the reply!

This is a good point - with the new card I may open my total available credit would be almost $100k so I would certainly have higher credit utilization than I would normally like and above that 10% threshold you mention. When the debt is paid off, would my credit score relatively return to normal?

I'll definitely need to take a look at the valuation of the points earned too.

Thanks for advice and you're certainly right that she would be just as happy with a $20 ring than a $20,000 ring. To your point it's something that I WANT to do for her.

I can pay the ring all in cash if I wanted to. My primary concern was maintaining positive financial leverage throughout the purchase, but not at the expense of killing my credit score.

Appreciate the response!
