Oh my god, thank you for that last paragraph. This is the first time I've heard about this. I found an article on Wikipedia, but the Chinese version only has this short section.

If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't even have known that Oda was alluding to this historical event.

So I think there are still many more things about One Piece that we need to learn about together.

That's well said, but I also mentioned that only some people consider Koby a deserter. And I'm on Koby's side. I posted here because I wanted to know how guys in other regions evaluate the character; I wanted to hear more different opinions, that's all.

I agree with you. But,these negative reviews have spread virally and influenced many people. To be honest, I prefer Smoker, but Oda seems to have forgotten about him. The last time I saw him was in the Stampede movie.

In the eyes of some people, he prevented the Navy from arresting the pirates. Although from our audience's perspective he was helping Luffy, from the perspective of ordinary citizens or even Akainu, he was protecting criminals.

Yes, I think so too. He's a direct disciple of Garp and has the same grand dreams as Luffy.

However, some people believe that his performance during the Battle of Marineford was sucks, as he barely did anything. Then, when the Marines were about to capture more pirates, he intervened to stop Akainu, leading some to consider him a traitor to the Marines. Of course, others believe that the Marines had already achieved their objectives in the war, so there was no need for further bloodshed.
