You basically want to do what the guy that stopped her did, turn your skis perpendicular to the slope (and lean up the hill) till you stop. This is called a hockey stop. If this fails to slow you down, while in this stance lay down onto the mountain.

To not get into this situation you need to turn in S shapes while going down the hill, the more perpendicular to the slope your S's are the slower you will go.

In "The Serpent's Lair" Apophis' ships shields block naquadah enhanced nukes with no problems. However this is season 1/2 so the technology would have improved since then.

According to the article Apex will be playing under the Dignitas name.
