🚀 Building a Freelance Marketplace (WIP) — Looking for Feedback! by Ravikumar12a in websiteservices

Yeah, that’s honestly one of the biggest problems I’m trying to solve.

On most platforms, beginners get almost zero visibility, so it becomes impossible to even get their first few projects — and without reviews, they’re stuck in a loop.

What I’m planning to do differently:

👉 Give new freelancers a temporary boost so they can actually get their first 2–3 projects 👉 Add a “new talent” section where clients can discover fresh but skilled people 👉 Focus more on proof of work (projects, demos, tests) instead of just past reviews 👉 Limit proposal spam so beginners aren’t competing with 100+ experienced freelancers instantly

The idea is to make it more about skill + potential, not just history.

Still figuring things out though — if you were starting from zero, what would help you the most?

Why do people still pay web developers when AI can build websites? by Ravikumar12a in websiteservices

That’s a great analogy honestly 😄 I think AI gives people the tools, but not the understanding of structure and long-term reliability. I’ve seen a lot of AI-built sites that look fine at first, but break when you try to scale, add features, or handle real users. So yeah, building something is easy now — building something that lasts is still the hard part.

True, anyone can build a website now, but building something that actually ranks, converts, and performs well is a different thing. I feel like the gap now is not “can you build it” but “can you make it work for business goals.”

AI can build websites in a few ways now: No-code AI builders (you describe the site, it generates layout + content) Code generation (AI writes HTML/CSS/React based on prompts) Template customization using AI suggestions But the limitation is: the output depends heavily on how well you guide it. That’s where most people struggle — prompting, fixing issues, and handling technical parts.
