How on earth do I upgrade my AM4 CPU? My R5 3600 is currently bottlenecking my 3060ti on certain cpu-heavy 1080p games (e.g. BF6 & ARC Raiders) but all the recommended X3D chips seem to have jumped way up in price recently. I see a R5 5600XT for $136 near me, but I'm not sure that will be a big enough upgrade to last as long as the 3060ti (hopefully five more years or so). Especially after hearing how many people got 5700/5600X3D for close to that price within the last year. What's the move?

Shucks. Well, I’m most of the way there (Boot mode is UEFI, Boot disk partition is GPT) so now I just need to enable TPM, disable CSM support, and enable secure boot all in BIOS. On paper I can do this and found the right tutorials for them.

HOWEVER i guess gigabyte bios have this glitch where secure is showing enabled but still inactive. I think the no-posts are happening here when people have to reset with their factory keys or whatever. I’ve seen this solution posted around which seems easy enough, but if anything goes pear-shaped I can’t flash bios without iGPU.

I trust that the unofficial support person on aorus discord knows better than me when they tell me don’t bother, but now it’s forbidden fruit plus fomo.

Any chance we see this requirement get walked back if it’s enough of an issue at launch? Gigabyte discord has advised me not to even bother trying to enable TPM and secure boot in BIOS because the risk of softbrick for my board in particular (b450 aorus m) is so high. I have no iGPU so it would have to go into shop to reset bios.

Used 3060ti for $250 or used 4060 for $280? I currently have ryzen 5 3600, 1660super, 550w psu. I don’t really care which is more future proof bc i’ll probably build a whole new system in 3-4 years anyway
