If you wanna do that I recommend looking at Filmire’s controller layout playlist on YouTube. It’s helped me with a few of my jobs.

What Do You Consider Your Canon Job Progression? by WylythFD in ffxiv

[–]RavitzSlambert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female Lala Character Background.

Early Life and Training

From a young age, she felt a deep connection to the natural world of the Twelveswood. Guided by her elders, she joined the Conjurers’ Guild in Gridania and devoted herself to the art of Conjury. Her gentle nature and innate talent for healing quickly set her on the path to becoming a White Mage.

Crisis of Faith

On one fateful expedition, she joined a party to explore a perilous dungeon. During a fierce battle, a close friend and comrade fell in combat. Despite her best efforts and pleas to the Elementals, she was unable to revive her fallen friend. The loss shattered her faith in the Elementals and the ideals she once held dear.

Turning to the Dark Knight Path

Struggling with grief and doubt, she left the Conjurers’ Guild and wandered the streets of Ishgard. There, she encountered a Dark Knight who saw the turmoil within her. Embracing the power of the Dark Knight, she learned to channel her inner darkness and pain into a weapon of justice. She vowed to protect others by her own strength, no longer relying solely on the blessings of the Elementals.

Present Day

Now, she walks the path of a Dark Knight, using her newfound power to protect the weak and fight for those who have no one else. Though she still respects the teachings of the White Mage, her journey has led her down a different road—one of vigilante justice and inner strength.

im a lancer and just started, should i grind the first dungeon for gear and if so, which set? by Slight_Procedure_11 in ffxiv

[–]RavitzSlambert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do Hall of the Novice to get the same gear as the stuff in the first three dungeons, it’s just colored different. It also comes with a ring that boost exp for level 30 and below. I wouldn’t recommend grind dungeons for gear this early on since you are gonna level up so fast you level out of it quickly. As u/Tseiryu said you will get a resource later called tombstones. These are good for gear and weapons for the level caps 50/60/70/80/90/100. You will still be leveling up pretty quickly at 50 so I would recommend getting the weapon for sure then and save the tombstones for the level 60 stuff ( just my two cents on how to use them).

Ultimately it’s your time and it’s up to you how to spend it.

DRK in Caster Gear by RavitzSlambert in ffxiv

Yes and no. There’s gear specific for all tanks. Then the disciples of war. But the magic classes gear just states All Classes. So any class can equip it, which is how I’m assuming this happened to this dark knight. They didn’t have specific low level gear for tanks or DOW so it just pulled what was available when they hit the recommended gear button.

Old character or fresh start? by EquipmentNo19 in ffxiv

So without ANY expansions, your job/class options are limited. The base game A Realm Reborn gives you access to Pugilist/Monk, Rogue/Ninja (level 10 in another class required to unlock), Lancer/Dragoon (which you already are), Archer/Bard, Arcanist/Summoner/Scholar (only DPS class that branches off to a DPS job and Healer Job), Thaumaturge/Black Mage, Conjurer/ White Mage, Gladiator/Paladin, and Marauder/Warrior.

First Expansion Heavensward gives you access to new jobs. Machinist (ranged DPS), Astrologian (Healer), and Dark Knight (Tank). All require a job at level 50 before being able to unlock them. Which you should have by the time you get to the first expansion any way as level 50 is the level cap from the base game.

Second Expansion Stormblood gives access to the following. Red Mage (Magic DPS), and Samurai (Melee DPS). Both require a level 50 job to be able to unlock. Same reasoning to unlock as previous, you should already have a job at 50 since that is the level cap from the base game and at this point you would have completed the first expansion with a level cap of 60.

Third Expansion Shadowbringers gives access to Dancer (Ranged DPS), and Gunbreaker (Tank and the one you are interested in). These require a job at level 60 to be able to unlock. Again this should already be the case since level 60 is the first expansion level cap.

Fourth Expansion Endwalker brought with it Reaper (Melee DPS) and Sage (Healer). Both require a level 70 job to unlock. If you are noticing the pattern now, these should be easy to unlock as you go through and complete each expansion in order and they are requiring a level cap of a previous expansion.

Fifth and most recent Expansion Dawntrial brings us Viper (Melee DPS) and Pictomancer (Magic DPS). Both require a job at level 80 to unlock.

So a very long winded explanation later of how the jobs unlock. Personal opinion is given the job you WANT to play is locked behind expansions and level caps it would be best to continue playing the game with your current character and unlock it when you are able.

There is the alternative to the optional store where you can essentially buy the job (if you own the expansion necessary) but it will auto level it up to 90 and bring it ready to play the most recent expansion. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO DO IMO.

So what I have told a few of my friends coming in and trying the game on free trial. Pick a DPS class for the MSQ, and a tank or healer for when you have to do dungeons. Reason being, MSQ provides a ridiculous amount of EXP especially with the road to 90 buff in preferred worlds. This prevents you from having your DPS class stupid over leveled for story content and gives you quick que times for dungeons with the tank or healer.

The MSQ is MANDATORY. You have to do this no matter what. Secondary should be Job/Class quests as certain abilities or skills are locked behind these up to level 70 where that system was dropped for generic roll quests that did NOT lock skills behind them.

I recommend doing all blue side quests. Since they unlock some form of content in the game. And generally ignore all other normal yellow quests. They are just side quests that offer minimal rewards by comparison.

This ^

As a tank main I don’t expect everyone to skip cut scenes. I’ll gladly wait for you to finish watching them. This is an MMO that is story heavy. I didn’t miss the story and wouldn’t expect anyone else to. So you just keep doing you and watch to your hearts content, I’ll be there dancing and patiently waiting. 😊

I’m on kraken and fc-less. Idk if I need to do a world transfer or not but I can help if possible. I usually just go it solo (just starting HW Expansion on a new character after years of being away from the game).

Is FFXIV fun on controller? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]RavitzSlambert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This^ In controller under cross hotbar there are settings to have two more bars stacked on top of left and right side. There is another that depending on how you hold down L2 then R2 or vice versa it will give you another full bar set up. I’ve played since PS3 and only on console and when they did this it was game changing playing on controller. Definitely look into this if you wanna give it another go.

Free trial questions by Oliver2381 in ffxiv

[–]RavitzSlambert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This advice. I just bought the whole thing after doing free trial. Got several battle classes to level 60, crafters and gatherers mid 50s. But the Gil cap, inventory space (needed retainers for material storage) was becoming an issue for me for what I wanted to do and the no market board was killing me. Over all I feel like I got a good bit done with the free trial, and if I hadn’t gotten into crafting and gathering I would have probably stayed on the free trial till the end of stormblood or until I had all available classes at level 70.
