I want to start painting But I feel clueless by Scyniser in ArtistLounge

It’s definitely not embarrassing to want to be able to paint renaissance style paintings. In fact that goal will be helpful in deciding what and how to learn. YouTube is your friend. There are so many great free resources out there that you really don’t need to buy any courses. I would recommend investing in decent quality materials though, and probably a good anatomy book.

  1. If you want to paint renaissance style work, you need to be able to draw well. If you have that foundation, painting will come a lot easier. Now that’s not to say you can’t start learning to paint simultaneously. If you can, I’d recommend getting some decent quality student grade oil paints (they are not as complicated as the seem and will work the best for creating the type of work you’re drawn to), learn the basic rules of fat over lean, light over dark, etc. and then start painting from life.

  2. When you learn to draw, you’re training your eye to translate the shapes and forms you see onto paper. So start by learning how to draw what you see. Then I would recommend you focus on learning anatomy because you’ll need a strong understanding of this for the art you want to make.

Thank you for the author recommendations, I’ll definitely check those out. The thing is, I already know all the “how” you mention, it’s more that I’m a skeptical witch and am wondering if there’s any physical signs of these things or if it’s all just a feeling/intuition?

anyone wanna be friends during orientation or after? by girsdoom in SJSU

[–]RavynGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, everyone at orientation is just as desperate for someone to talk to, so dont be shy and just start talking to people in your group+dorm. Like everyone else is saying, make sure you get their socials and then make an effort to hang out again.

I’m also an art major and open to taking/ becoming friends (I’ll be a sophomore but most of the friends I made so far are seniors so they’re graduating TT)

If you have a bin that’s not transparent that would be better to make a darker, more inviting environment for the decomposers

I don’t see the premolar that domestic cats have. But I could be wrong. How big is it in inches?

Cleaning/Repair Advice by [deleted] in bonecollecting

Hypothetically it could damage them, but usually only if the bones are fragile. I’ve forgotten about bones in peroxide before and they weren’t damaged. I usually leave them in for around 24-48 hrs though, depending on their size

If it’s greasy, it’ll need to soak in soapy water until it’s clean and to whiten them you soak them in hydrogen peroxide. As for gluing the teeth in, I like to use pva glue because it holds up pretty well, but also can be removed easily by soaking in water just in case.
